perfect....

except it doesn't block spyware and trojan horses. you'll need avg anti-spyware for it but the free version doesn't come with real time protection either....

Avira is much better

By CGC on 14.09.2007 - 05:09

Fair solution

By V50 on 15.09.2007 - 05:09
i use avg free but i noticed that there is nowhere where someone can tell it to not detect like a reserved private area and also i noticed that avg misses stuff that eset nod32 or bit defender detect.

for something free i can't complain but i wish they could really add the feature to not scan private(s) area(s) that we could define ourselves.

nod32

By nick on 16.09.2007 - 13:09
i prefer nod32 becuse it gives less (almost no) instances of false positives. for example a perfectly good and useful crack may be flagged as a virus by avg or symantec but not with nod32. false positives are very annoying. nod32 is also a top notch av program.

AVG rules

By Aursis on 16.09.2007 - 18:09
have used a lot of antivirus progs over the years, symantec, norman, nod, panda.etc..have used avg a lot, and have scanned computers i have got from people with symantec installed from the shop..avg have found the viruses symantec's viruscanner havent found...and when it comes to real time protection..try to open a infected file with avg installed..it will tell you no,no at once..i use it both on my windo $e machines and linux machines..they work very fine.

C- for BitDefender - 8+ for free AVG

By realtile on 26.09.2007 - 17:09
bitdefender slows the pc performances and also the internet connection.avg doesn't.but in protection...bit is much better...

Bitdefender

By Gorguts on 08.10.2007 - 18:10
bitdefender crushes everything i have used so far. i have never noticed any lag in pc processes including web browsing. bitd is small and does it all. i'm here because i am now using vista and bitd 10 is not supported yet.
