Black screen of darkness to haunt Vista pirates
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 12.9.2007
Microsoft Windows' infamous "blue screen of death" has become synonymous with an operating system crash or freeze, but that's nothing compared with what users of pirated copies of Vista worldwide can expect from now -- a black screen of darkness.
In an e-mail to a large Windows Vista distributor titled "Pirated Vista -- A darkness descends!" -- a local Microsoft representative made it quite clear what Vista pirates can expect to happen to their unlicensed installations.
A copy of this e-mail was obtained by Computerworld.
"Good afternoon, as of this week, Microsoft has activated a function in Vista called 'Reduced Functionality.' This is a specific function in Vista that effectively disables nongenuine copies of Windows. Therefore anyone who has a pirated copy of Vista will experience:
A black screen after one hour of browsing
No start menu or task bar
No desktop
Please communicate this antipiracy initiative from Microsoft to your resellers -- note this function has only just been activated in Vista worldwide and therefore any issues with nongenuine versions will start to arise from now onward."
Microsoft's new tough antipiracy move also proves the company still controls its software releases with an iron fist, but it marks the first global use of heavy-handed tactics for pirated copies of Windows.
The e-mail message also included what resembled an advertisement of the new antipiracy initiative.
Titled "Don't let this happen to your customers," the advertisement indicates nongenuine copies of Windows Vista will lose access to key features, have limited access to updates, and thus risk attack from viruses, malware and spyware.
"If Windows Vista is not activated with a genuine product key, your customers will experience reduced functionality," according to the ad. "The blocking of nongenuine product keys is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. To help protect honest partners and fight piracy, Microsoft will continue to block product keys that are determined to be pirated, stolen or otherwise deemed nongenuine."
The ad concludes with "Don't risk it!" and "make sure your customers always get genuine Windows Vista preinstalled."

directly from micro$oft---spammmm
raiderz
the final beta already has rfm
microsoft is trying their level best into tricking people to buy original vista as they
cant counter the oem crack...
moreover, i;ve been updating using windows
update...nothing has ever happened despite repeated threats..
dont ever beleive
any shit of a similar kind...
to m$, make a decent os and we'll buy it. as long as u don't care about ur customers
and always give us shit, we're getting it for free (lol we're shit is free right? :p)..
peace \/
haha am i the only one who can see this is purely marketing? this system is already in
place you ctrl alt delete and crash the explorer.exe bah..so i heard
bring it on mighty m$.......what a load of bollox!!!!!!
if this is true, then it should be happening now and you should be seeing a *ton* of
complaints.
my bet is that it isn't true. besides, the time crack versions
are still legitimate versions, along with oem versions.
bullying someone to do
something will accomplish nothing except make them use something else.
also, how can you have no start menu, desktop, or taskbar, yet you can browse the
internet for one hour? that makes no sense, and is impossible.
i having been using pirated vista since beta1 at home, and at office rtm
permanet
working on internet, with all updates installed
everything is going on...
this
is just a marketing strategy, like giving up support of windows xp after sp3
this is only in reduced functionality mode. microsoft will now turn off (give a black
screen to) any and all reduced functionality pcs after one hour of internet browsing. so
if you already activated it illegally, no worries. ;)
after reading that again, i have reasons to believe that this is all nothing but a
description of what reduced functionality does and always did.
if any user wants to avoid any unnecessary problems using these cracks you only have to
do one thing, stay away from windows update!!! if your careful about which updates to
apply you won't get burned. check on keznews and other sites as updates appear and watch
for other users having issues. doing this properly will assure you will never be taken
down by microsoft. there are users still using cracked xp installs for almost 5 years and
have had no issues, why should vista be different???
i have a black screen, today in my computer and i don't know to fix it, some body know
how to do it?
if it is like that i'll stop connecting to internet with my vista ...no conection no
tracing...haha..
if m$ windows is not crackable, the world will go for the penguin. this will be a
nightmare for m$.
i have a black screen too after installing the updat genui advantage by windows update,,,
i started my pc in save modus and restored my pc to a earlier date and everything
whas alright,,
i installed genui vallidation by downloading something that needs
validation, that test i come treu but not the update of it,,
by the way if you
instal sp1beta on a cracked version you wil need tot activate again and by me it wont work
so i did system restore and now im runnign without sp1 beta,,
i will wait for
somebody to crack that shit
