Under the rule of the PR "shy" Steven a.k.a. Codename Translucency, Sinofsky, senior vice president for the Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group — the user experience of Microsoft Windows and Windows Live services, Microsoft has gagged all details related to upcoming releases related to the Windows platform.
Windows Vista SP1, Windows XP SP3, Windows Seven and even Windows Fiji are all under Windows Omerta. And with Sinofsky, Microsoft is striving to be translucent, instead of transparent. However, the Redmond company needs to choose its "select" testers more... selectively, as Vista SP1 downloads have been uploaded to torrent trackers worldwide.
At the time of this article, no less than three such websites were offering "Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 32Bit Build 6001 16549" for download. The torrent was made available initially on August 9, and is an ISO file weighing in at approximately 3.2 GB. "This is the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Build 6001.16549. Think of it more as a pre-beta build of SP1 than an actual beta build. Full Build tag is: 6001.16549.070628-1825," reads a fragment of the release notes adjacent to the download.
Toward the end of July, Microsoft confirmed the fact that a pre-beta test build of Vista SP1 had been dropped in the laps of what it has referred to as "a select pool of testers." Admitting publicly the existence of Vista SP1 pre-beta must have torn Sinofsky's heart out. However, Microsoft emphasized that a public beta of the first service pack for Windows Vista won't be coming anytime soon. Well, it seems that some of the testers failed to see eye to eye with Microsoft on the limited nature of the pre-beta version.

why is it so often that we get totally conflicting reviews of software dl's? only
conclusion i can reach...50% of you guys are either stupid, liars or nasty little
children. the other 50% of you know what i mean.
do the oem emulation cracks still work after installing sp1.
it should be 15% stupid, 15% liars, 20% nasty, and 50% reliability.
i have installed almost all the hotfix files who´s is out, what does this package have
compared to the hotfixes.
isnt better to wait until tuesday when microsoft
realizes nine updates?

it works fine. all the bitches screaming fake don't have a clue what they are talking
about. vista works faster, you certainly notice the difference. i used the oem fix and
that works fine

i dowloaded this and burnt the iso in nero 7. the whole file seems to be a windows
install. it wanted my product key, it even wanted to check for updates before the
install. this cannot be sp1. since when does an update need to go to the web to look for
more updates before it updates? i compared the files with my windows vista disk...they
were indentical. this is not sp1.
this file wanted to and i quote "check for updates before installing windows"...again,
i doubt this is genuinly vista sp1. it seems to be an image of a windows vista install.
if you install this you risk losing all your data, since it would probably overwrite the
previous image. someone somewhere probably thought it would be cute for people to lose
their os...not me.
hi everyone. microsoft hasn't released a seperate installer of sp1 for vista yet. the
only way to install sp1 is to basically reinstall vista with sp1 already integrated into
it.
if you downloaded "sp1" and it was 3.2 gb than it is sp1 for vista. it is so
big because it is also vista itself.
if you have a legal key, you can use it to
reactivate vista, and if you are using a crack, you may have to go to one of the bios
emulator cracks to get vista "legal" again.

wow, thanks for the info. there is no way i want to reinstall all my programs again...i
choose to wait until microsoft officially comes out with a sperate installer. i've got a
life y'know...reinstalling all my programs and reconfiguring everything would $uck.

i have to say for me vista is running better and faster. i did it on 1 pc as a test and
have now reinstalled 3 others.
i started to beta test this about a month ago. this was the version available i got a bit
back. its just the beta and its old!
