Windows XP Service Pack 3 Beta build 3180

section: download, for your questions: KezNews forum, 9.8.2007

Thanks to marct for this download of Windows XP Service Pack 3 Beta build 3180.

Bink.nu: I did a clean install of Windows XP Professional (English, 32bit, Volume License) with Service Pack 2 integrated in a Virtual Machine. After that I installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 Beta build 3180.

The SP3 executable pack is named windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe. So there we have the reserved KB article number. The size of the pack is 332 MB.

When installing is replaces and backs up 2,848 files (456 MB) to C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$

As before it also archives the SP3 itself in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 2,921 Files (552 MB)

Lucky harddisk space is not an issue these days....

After installing I noticed nothing new visually yet in the Bootscreen or UI. All I noticed was that Remote Desktop Client was updated to 6.1 and that IE6 said SP3 in aboput screen.

Of course a lot of bugfixes since SP2, I mean 2848 files are renewed, I have no wireless in the VM but I assume WPA2 support is now included and High Def Audio devices are detected without need of a hotfix.

I did a Windows Update for fun, 1 high prio update appeared, the July edition of the Malicious Software Removal Tool. 2 Optionals are .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0, not .NET 3.0 ?

after you will integrate this sp3 into any winxp home or pro all known keys will become invalid. the only way to try it is to install it after a fresh sp2 instalation.

I'm Happy with SP2, why do i need SP2c??

By majed on 11.08.2007 - 10:08
this sp is nothing but a trap for illegal copies of xp sp2 users.

i've feelings that they meant by this sp to force people to shift to vista after they locked down their pcs or something..

i've xp pro sp2 for many years with almost (0) problems.

why do they want to release a new sp for xp while they are trying to attract people moving from xp to vista?

this is just to disturb users so that they either buy xp to peace their minds or go for vista.

majed you are dumb

By crany on 11.08.2007 - 12:08
sp2c is for system builders and it only changes a very small thing which is how many product keys professional uses, it will never be given to the normal computer user.

damn some people are so f-ucking stupid these days.

Companies want XP not Vista

By Joe on 11.08.2007 - 19:08
companies still want to use xp pro. microsoft must support their corporate accounts. so we get sp2c (and or sp3) before all it over with. companies can buy xp loaded systems up to the cutoff date for it.

XP rules!

By Tom on 12.08.2007 - 21:08
xp still rules!!! most compatible and same time stable os of all!

Big time warning for those using pirated Windows XP Media Center

By Mark on 13.08.2007 - 03:08
if you were using microsoft windows xp media center edition 2005 activation crack by brick, installing windows xp sp3 will disable the crack so you get 30 left to activate. if you try this crack on one with windows xp sp3 it will say "fail".

Need serious crack update !!!

By Mark on 13.08.2007 - 03:08
if you are brick or anyone else, try updating the crack for windows media center edition with sp3.

To Mark

By Joe on 13.08.2007 - 04:08
use antiwpa!

I'm quite confused...

By n0n3 on 14.08.2007 - 16:08
the company i work for uses volume licenses but windows xp sp3 says they are invalid. i think microsoft isn't able to distinguish between valid and invalid serial codes of xp pro.

Maybe it's because

By this on 14.08.2007 - 21:08
is still a beta so microsoft haven't included the proper activation shit.

DONT DO IT!!!

By U-Unit92 on 17.08.2007 - 11:08

every 1 just go to vista

By vista dude on 21.08.2007 - 09:08
i sick off every body askng about win xp sp3 all it would be is more shit ass patget the video card ram and run vista its much more smoother and soon every app will be made for vista dont worry about win xp its too old (6 years to old) microsoft dont make any new things for windows xp its crap and old so every body just move on live windows xp rip and say hello to vista its worth getting to know it now before it all changers

get rid of vista

By daftmate on 21.08.2007 - 18:08
i am an mcse now i dont use microsoft cos of all the shitty updates that kill ya pc why dont ya move ta ubuntu more secure everything is free why the hell have the hassel of pissin about with microsoft gear bets thing i did was move to ubuntu a bit of a learing curve but what the heck at least it dont keep falling over or locin up have fun boys

re: ubuntu

By Guest on 23.08.2007 - 22:08
daftmate:

not everyone can make the switch to ubuntu... those include gamers, web designers and more.

i myself fall into both category's and rely on adobe design premium cs3 and over 30gb of windows games.

id switch to linux if there was a emulation method that worked for everything i need.

yes i have tried cedega, wine, self built optimized wine got low fps at 1440x900 (my monitor resolution) and adobe cs3 wont run in those either.

so before you go pushing that everyone goes to ubuntu.. think

Slipstream SP3

By Geo411m on 29.08.2007 - 03:08
fyi, if you slipstream sp3 you need to replace pidgen.dll with one from sp2 before burning your disk so you can use your sp2 cd key.

M$ just licks balls cause they know they got the field

By nix/m$ user on 14.09.2007 - 00:09
linux kicks but but is limited for gaming and graphics.
but is more stable less issues for many many needs. never use windows for a web or email server. linux has a higher and faster system. not all that garbage loaded/

sp3 is way over due. and they need to get it out like last yr. especially for var etc. they dont even give actionpack subscriptions a xpsp2 cd. there stuck with updating via a stupid cd or downloading sp2.
