Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversToday, users running Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Beta were greeted with an update entitled "Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Beta 1 Update 1" via Windows Update.
The update description notes that there are no changes to Messenger it self, and that it is simply an update to aid in testing how Messenger receives its updates. Although no new version is available yet, the nature of the update suggests that we may be seeing one soon.
You do not need to uninstall any previous versions before updating, nor will you have to reboot your system. The update brings WLM's build up to 8.5.1238 (from 1235).

waste of a update, why bother?
to test that the updates are recieved and installed properly so when another updates is
released(a real one) they know it works!!! id rather this then keep uninstalling and
re-installing!!
maybe they are adding more banner ads. fortunately there is a patch that lets you remove
all that crap (search for "mess with messenger).
