Windows Live Messenger 8.5 - A First Look
section: microsoft, for your questions: KezNews forum, 27.5.2007
Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversThe guys over at Messenger Adictos have made available the Spanish version of the next version of Windows Live Messenger, 8.5.
The installer itself has been wrapped by them and sticks the actual installer in a folder in Program Files, where you can then install Live Messenger. So, I present to you, screenshots of Windows Live Messenger 8.5.
I would, though, like to point out that this build (8.5.1235.0517) is unlikely to be the build that will be sent to testers when the beta starts, so the UI could still change before it's sent out.
The nice thing about this version is it finally installs to a Windows Live folder, rather than the usual MSN Messenger folder. From what I have seen of this version, it looks good, and I'm looking forward to an official build. This new UI change seems to tie up with the new UI we saw in the Live Writer screenshot and the Mail screenshot, so hopefully, Messenger won't be the only Live product to get updated soon.

found a way to make stuff plug work:
copy msacm32.dll from your c:program
filesmsn messenger folder to the new live messenger folder (c:program fileswindows
livemessenger) =d
you can do the same to make msg plus! live work too:
copy msimg32.dll from your c:program filesmsn messenger folder to the new live
messenger folder (c:program fileswindows livemessenger) =d
thanks to digg, the above is available to download.
so far it does not seem
to offer any extra functions, it seems just to be a re-skin job, judging from the
screenshots, but i haven t examinied it in any detail yet to discover any new functions.
downloads, installation instructions plus screenshots at diggs website.

official installer (digitally signed by ms) without the messengeradictos.com ads:
http://random.menthix.net/es_install_wlmessenger_8_5.exe
after installing,
download http://random.menthix.net/msgslang.8.5.1235.0517.dll and place (overwrite) it in
c:program fileswindows livemessenger to make it in english
if you are a
messenger plus! user, download http://random.menthix.net/msimg32.dll and place it in
c:program fileswindows livemessenger too. messenger plus! will then load, but not all
features will work correctly, some. like chat logging, will not work at all.
a
bunch of more screenshots can be found here:
