This topic was created to have a centralized information point where MS updates can be reported that disable any Vista cracks / methods or activating Vista and where forum members can find the latest information on which cracks / methods are disabled or not.
To keep it as accurate and up to date as possible, we will need your input and help
Basic guideline for posting a reply:
You can post any safe or unsafe updates (see below), tips, news, methods how to recover, suggestions etc
If the information given is accurate it will be added in this post with your credit
If your post turns out to be wrong, spam, a hoax etc, I will ask the mods to remove it.
Do not post safe updates that came out earlier then the latest update of this topic.

Type of Installed Vista:
OEM, Retail, RTM or Others (for others please specify)
Which method are you using to Activate Vista:
Rearm, Timerstop v1, Timerstop v2, Softmode 1, VistaLoader (Softmode 2), Paradox, KMS Server, Bios Mobo or Others (for others please specify)
What is the name of your crack (if known):
Vista Activator, One Click Activator etc.

Rearm: Working; however it has been reported that with the new Vista DVD shipping the rearm trick will be disabled by default (tbc) - info as per 10 May

OEM Activation Cracks
Softmode 1: Working - info as per 10 May
VistaLoader (Softmode 2): Working - info as per 10 May
Paradox: Working - info as per 10 May
Bios Mobo: Work- info as per 10 May
Bios that has SLIC by defaut Working - info as per 10 May
Others Cracks
KMS Server: Working as per 10 May
Frankenbuild: Disabled by KB929391 - info as per 10 May (tbc)
Legend:
Working = Vista is activated and/or all Vista function and updates will be available
Disabled = The method of activation will not work any more
TBC = To be confirmed
Suspicious MS Updates:
The following updates have been reported to cause problems with some versions of Vista if installed after the crack was applied; however reinstalling the crack will activate you again!
Some users say that it is a sort of bug or coincidence that some Updates can disable a crack.

When will Microsoft disable the known methods to activate Vista:
Nobody can tell; however a lot of users assume that Microsoft will try to shot down most of the cracks with SP1.
Some tips to prevent a deactivation of your Vista:
Turn off automatic updates
Before updating your system, come here and see if it is safe to update
Create at least two partitions, one for your Vista and applications and the other for your personal data. Should you ever need to reinstall Vista, you wont lose your files.
Make a backup before installing MS updates, a restore point will not help to get activated again.
Buy a legit copy of Vista, there are ways to get it relatively cheap
Some tips to recover your Vista should an updated disable your activation:
(if your crack is disabled, most likely you will not be able to access your desktop as normal)
get your desktop back (Recover from Reduced Functionality Mode) http://keznews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5848
remove the old crack and reinstall the same or a new one
remove the KB that did diable the crack (maybe not necessary)

the users must also gather their resources and share information and stay informed.....
yes i have to agree with " the cat " this is a good thread! i done one a little like
this on another thread a while back but got board with it but this one looks 100x better

in the past i used to go to microsoft's office page and download updates and templates
with an invalid office license. when prompted for genuine check, offer up your valid xp
license to get through. it was never required for you to have office installed on your
computer to download office updates. all that is required is a valid microsoft license to
windows. try it!!!
it was days before 05/10 that my business-edition turns dimmed (looks very
uncomfortable), saying on desktop "this is not genuine" or crap like that. however, it
was still activated iirc.
the paradox crack does get your windows updated, but no updates!
all the people running these half-ass cracked versions of vista without being able to
pull in updates properly are going to be the same people who've been polluting the
internet with bot-infected xp machines since it came out. when will you people learn?
well, i had a nice copy of dell oem crack that was installed and running smoothly with
all updates and all since last month. but today i decided to reinstall it afresh, and then
updated it, assiduously avoiding the kb931573 one, but still i got the message saying only
30 days left for activation. so here i'm posting what updates i had installed. can anyone

nothing here would cause problems. shouldn't have reinstalled it. if it's not
broke..........
all the updates you got are ok. i have msdn sub so i am ok but a friend of mine has the
same problem. near end of may his vista deactivated. so he tried some experiments...
he restored from a backup and vista ran ok till he checked for windows updates. he did not
install any updates then but it seems that just checking for updates deactivated his
paradox oem bios emulation crack. can't find any info anywhere on the net but he tried
this a few times by restoring from backup and checking for windows updates and it
deactivated it every time! what i mean by deactivated is that an error box pops up with
licensing error i think 0xc004c001 but not sure.
