Windows Vista Retail Direct Link from Microsoft Leaked

section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 13.4.2007

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated drivers

2 days ago, there is Windows Vista retail download links posted on some forums. That seems pretty normal as there are people kept on uploading whenever Rapidshare removes them.

The special thing about this Windows Vista leak is that it is DIRECTLY from Microsoft! It is original and untouched. It's the 32bit-Vista version (Ultimate/Business/Home depending on what serial number you use, of course). Full-Version (not an upgrade).

There are 3 parts to download.
1. boot.wim
2. install.wim
3. X13-49120.exe

If you look at the filenames of the 3 files, it doesn't tells you that it's Windows Vista. My first question is, how did it got leaked out and know that it's Windows Vista? The total file size for this 3 files is 2.52GB.

The domain that hosting the 3 files is msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net. I did a whois and this domain belong to a company called Digital River. Digital River is a leading provider of global e-commerce solutions for software and consumer technology. One example is that Norton store is powered by Digital River. After you've purchased any software from Norton and you chose to download the product after paying, Digital River will give you a link to download the FULL version.

Another question in my mind is, why is Windows Vista being hosted on Digital River? We all know Windows Vista don't ship the product digitally. It comes in original DVD.

I am shocked and can't explain. Downloading Windows Vista from the direct leaked link will be a lot faster and easier compared to files on RapidShare. But remember, if these files are hosted on a site chosen by Microsoft as "Content Delivery Network" for its products, it is possible that it logs every IP address that's been downloading from them. I believe when Digital River notices a high traffic on those 3 files, it will be removed.

Edit: OK, I was wrong. You CAN buy Windows Vista online and download it after paying. That answered all my questions above on why is it being hosted on Digital River, and how does people know that those 3 files are Windows Vista.

Vista Upgrade

By Phantom on 13.04.2007 - 15:04
vista ultimate upgrade directly from microsoft. yes! it's been leaked.
it works like this. microsoft provides an option to purchase vista online, after payment, the customer is given a download link which enables them to directly download windows vista from microsoft server. (in fact ms uses a 3rd party software distributor to host the file; digitalriver) these download links have beeb leaked to the web and anyone can paste the links in a download manager or a web browser to begin the download of an original, untouched version of 'vista ultimate upgrade'.
there are 3 files required for download:
boot.wim
install.wim
x13-49120.exe

this is the upgrade version and works only on top of a windows 98 or xp installation (cant use a bootable cd and clean install)download:file 1:http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/01/60316070-3318705--noa/msvista/pub/vista_wim/i 386/boot.wimfile 2:http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/01/60316070-3318705--noa/msvista/pub/vista_wim/i 386/install.wim file 3:http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/01/60316070-3318705--noa/msvista/pub/x13-49120/x 13-49120.exe install notes 1. put the exe and the 2 wim files in the same folder. 2. then click on the exe. it will copy the wims to the correct folder. an installer will come up. close it. 3. the exe will create a folder named vista. all the files (and the wims) are in there.4. install from that location.

Vista Upgrade Edit

By Phantom on 13.04.2007 - 16:04
sorry not just an upgrade, but the real thing! :-) just put all 3 files in the same folder. run the x13-49120 and you will get the vista setup display. close that display and you will see a new folder called vista that will come up. in that folder are files (2.52 gb.) you can burn to a dvd and run it as a boot dvd for a clean installation. have fun :-)

make bootable iso file

By freeman on 13.04.2007 - 21:04
follow these instruction to make a bootable iso:
copy the 3 files from microsoft to c:\
run x13-49120.exe and it will create a folder called vista
extract cdimage from cdimage.rar file to the c:\
type this at c:\ (in command promt)

cdimage.exe -llrmcfree_en_dvd -m -u2 -bc:\vista\boot\etfsboot.com c:\vista\ c:\vistax86.iso

(obviously you can change the paths if you have the files somewhere else)

download cdimage v2.52p here:

why go through all that shit when you can do what phantom said in his post? i did what he said downloaded the files put them in a folder ran the x13-49120.exe when the windows installer came up closed it then looked in the file i put the 3 files in, in the first place and there was a new one called vista opened it and burned those file to dvd and whala, worked like a charm! 
p.s. you can use any dvd burning program! and i recommend the lowest speed as possible when burning these files! i used 1x

hey guys, i was just wondering, is it safe to download this. i mean i am already downloading, but what if the service provider is keeping tracks of the ip addresses. i am behind a router of course, but i was just wanted to get your guys opinion. please let me know.
thx!

That's exactly the reason...

By ronzalonis on 15.04.2007 - 03:04
it was also posted as a torrent on demonoid, veg. and because there was a request on here, to have these files posted as a torrent. i'm sure at sometime in the not to distant future these links will cease to function, so probably not a smart move to tell people not to d/l the torrent. i'm not personally going to seed it forever.
i don't think the moderators of the demonoid site will let your comment with the direct links stay up but who knows.
happy cracking.

you need the file "cdimage.exe" in the root directory first; ie c:

Full version?

By mlhifi on 16.04.2007 - 00:04
microsoft quote on their site that they sell downloads for upgrade only. the only way to get a full version is to buy a dvd in a store! caution here is recommended.

Legit?

By mlhifi on 16.04.2007 - 00:04
something else to think about! do you really think these files would still be available after all this time via a so-called "legit microsoft download site" if they were for real? they'd have been pulled ages ago!

Making it bootable

By luvs_footie on 16.04.2007 - 05:04
the following is what i did and i got bootable dvd.

(1) created a folder called c:\vistadvd

(2) place the three downloaded files in this folder.

(3) extract the file x13-49120 which will create a new folder called "vista"

(4) download this file http://www.philia.pe.kr/cgi/spboard/board....load&gul=66

(5) place the downloaded file in your system32 folder.

(6) open the command prompt (as an administrator if you are working in vista) and insert the following command...........

oscdimg -bc:\vistadvd\vista\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lvista_en_dvd c:\vistadvd\vista c:\vistadvd.iso

press enter

this will produce a bootable udf-dvd image file.

now burn the image to a dvd (i used ultra-iso) and there you have it..........bootable vista dvd

Windows Vista Download

By bobcrane on 16.04.2007 - 20:04
i tried these links a few days ago and they still worked...i downloaded the files for curiosity if anything else. other people have posted them online in torrents for people to download. there are also hundreds of other places where people can get fully working copies of windows vista in various formats.

but if you really want to use it indefinitely without actually paying for it in some way, your very best option is modding your bios. there is a nice guy who has a "bios request" section in the kez forum. simply post a message with the appropriate information and perhaps a copy of the bios rom from your motherboard and likely within a couple of hours, he will post a download link for you to grab a modified copy of your bios rom. flashing your bios is actually a relatively simple procedure, though there is some risk to it because it can render your motherboard permanently useless if done improperly, so you want to be careful.

i had tried most of the cracks out there and had little or no luck with them and in truth, it only extends your trial period. bios modding is permanent activation and it's the one least likely to be patched by micro$oft because of their agreements with large computer manufacturers who ship millions of computers pre-loaded with windows. by blacklisting the codes or what ever, they would make victims out of millions of their own loyal customers and no business person in their right mind would even think of doing something so stupid!!!

modding a bios is as simple as running a utility under windows or dos (you can probably get one from your computer manufacturer's website and there are others that work for this purpose too). you then select the new bios rom and choose the update options. before doing this, you'll probably have to go into your bios setup to disable write protect on the boot block. the whole process basically involved restarting your system twice and then installing a digital license file for your computer manufacturer and the appropriate product key. everest is a popular utility for gleening information from your computer, just make sure you get the "right" bios rom before trying this to avoid the risk of damaging your motherboard! once i had this, my system was fully activated in less than 20 minutes.

Creating the ISO file

By Cracker on 16.04.2007 - 21:04
you should now download cdimage
cdimage 2.39: http://www.tech-hints.com/prog/cdimage.zip

new!!!! gui version of cdimage is now available. http://www.tech-hints.com/prog/cdimagegui.zip

place on another drive with at least 1gb of free space. gives you room to work with. this is the drive where the iso file will be created. type in the following command at the dos prompt exactly: cdimage -lwinvista -t04/16/2007,12:00:00 -g -h -n -o -w1 -m -b%drive%:\root\loader.bin %drive%:\root winvista.iso

great but what the hell did you just type? here you go.

-l volume label, no spaces (e.g. -lmylabel)
-t time stamp for all files and directories, no spaces, any delimiter(e.g. -t12/31/91,15:01:00)
-g encode gmt time for files rather than local time
-h include hidden files and directories
-n allow long filenames (longer than dos 8.3 names)
-nt allow long filenames, restricted to nt 3.51 compatibility
(-nt and -d cannot be used together)
-d don't force lowercase filenames to uppercase
-c use ansi filenames versus oem filenames from source
-j1 encode joliet unicode filenames and generate dos-compatible 8.3 filenames in the iso-9660 name space (can be read by either joliet systems or conventional iso-9660 systems, but some of the filenames in the iso-9660 name space might be changed to comply
with dos 8.3 and/or iso-9660 naming restrictions)
-j2 encode joliet unicode filenames without standard iso-9660 names
(requires a joliet operating system to read files from the cd)
when using the -j1 or -j2 options, the -n, -nt, and -d options do not apply and cannot be used.
-js non-joliet "readme.txt" file for images encoded with -j2 option
(e.g. -jsc:\location\readme.txt). this file will be visible as the only file in the root directory of the disc on systems that do not support the joliet format (windows 3.1, nt 3.x, etc).
-u1 encode "udf" file system along with mirror iso-9660 file system
(-n, -nt, -d, -c, or -j1, -j2 options apply to iso-9660 portion)
-u2 encode "udf" file system without a mirror iso-9660 file system
(requires a udf capable operating system to read the files)
-us non-udf "readme.txt" file for images encoded with -u2 option
(e.g. -usc:\location\readme.txt). this file will be visible as the only file in the root directory of the disc on systems that do not support the udf format.
-b "el torito" boot sector file, no spaces (e.g. -bc:\location\cdboot.bin)
-s sign image file with digital signature (no spaces, provide rpc server and endpoint name like -sservername:endpointname)
-x compute and encode "autocrc" values in image
-o optimize storage by encoding duplicate files only once
-oc slower duplicate file detection using binary comparisons rather than md5 hash values
-oi ignore diamond compression timestamps when comparing files
-os show duplicate files while creating image (-o options can be combined like -ocis)
-w warning level followed by number (e.g. -w4)
1 report non-iso or non-joliet compliant filenames or depth
2 report non-dos compliant filenames
3 report zero-length files
4 report each file name copied to image
-y test option followed by number (e.g. -y1), used to generate non-standard variations of iso-9660 for testing purposes:
1 encode trailing version number ';1' on filenames (7.5.1)
2 round directory sizes to multiples of 2k (6.8.1.3)
5 write \i386 directory files first, in reverse sort order
6 allow directory records to be exactly aligned at ends of sectors (iso-9660 6.8.1.1 conformant but breaks mscdex)
7 warn about generated shortnames for 16-bit apps under nt 4.0
b blocksize 512 bytes rather than 2048 bytes
d suppress warning for non-identical files with same initial 64k
-k (keep) create image even if fail to open some of the source files
-m ignore maximum image size of 681,984,000 bytes
-a allocation summary shows file and directory sizes
-q scan source files only, don't create an image file

bob, i used this trick when i installed my vista works great! but i was wondering if i was to update my bios would i need to do this trick all over again?

RE: Bobcrane

By bobcrane on 16.04.2007 - 22:04
hello james

if your appropriate product key for your edition of vista is already installed as well as the digital license file (many of the cracks do a good job of installing those), all you need to do is update the bios for everything to be activated, that was all i had to do because i had already had the other components. to be safe, i would download and run voatk to try and "undo" any timer stops or any other cracks in which you have tried, then install the proper license, key and update your bios. if your current bios rom is something like 1234ab.bin, make sure the new one you get is also 1235ab.bin, and from what i know, the file sizes are usually 512kb (some bioes may be different, but i don't know this for sure).

bottom line, your status should show was "activated" and you should never have to worry about installing a creack again...for as long as you use or update vista and even if you have to re-install in the future, it should activate using the oem product key for your version, if it doesn't do so automatically. i cannot say this with 100% certainty because i've never tried it and don't intend on re-installing windows until there is something new out there to use (accorting to micro$oft, they want to churn out new operating systems about every 3 years or so).

go into the keznews forun, look for the "bios request" threat. those people will be more than happy to answer all of your questions and help you get a modded bios. you'll probably find everything you need to know by reading the forum messages. you may even find that your bios has already been modded and you can just download and install from there. the list is growing by the minute actually!

Thanks Bobcrane

By James on 16.04.2007 - 23:04
hay, thanks for the info! i already have updated my bios with asus m2n-e acpi bios revision 0802, but just was wondering about the future if i had to do a paradox vista activator trick again. (i think this is the best so far!) :-)

Attention: James

By bobcrane on 17.04.2007 - 05:04
the bios mods i was talking about are vista oem bios mods. what these do is they make your computer work just as if it came pre-installed with windows vista. as long as you have an oem digital licence, you should never have to use paradox or any other crack to activate windows vista, even if you have to or choose to re-install in the future. if you went out tomorrow and bought a brand new computer, chances are it will be pre-loadced with windows vista and it will be activated the same way, unless micro$oft changes their agreements with the computer manufacturers and distributors and chooses to have them activated a different way.
