Windows Live Messenger Service Outage

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversThe Windows Live Messenger service is reportedly inaccessible by various users around the world. Reports are also prevelant of other Windows Live ID-supported sites not functioning, such as Hotmail, MSN Web Messenger and Microsoft Connect.
Service reliability has been hit hard in recent months, with a number of outages lasting over 3 hours and affecting more than 75% of the user base. Whilst Microsoft is usually quick to respond internally through their Hi-Pri incident system msnalerts, the public are rarely notified through the expected channels such as the
Service Status page or other Microsoft sites.
More soon.
Update: Service availability appears to be improving, but 100% availability is yet to be achieved.
Update: Service is returning to normal, no problems for users now trying to connect.
