Microsoft allows bypass of Vista activation
section: windows, for your questions: KezNews forum, 16.3.2007
Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversMicrosoft has built into Vista a function that allows anyone to extend the operating system's activation deadline not just three times, but many times. The same one-line command that postpones Vista's activation deadline to 120 days can be used an indefinite number of times by first changing a Registry key from 0 to 1.
This isn't a hacker exploit. It doesn't require any tools or utilities whatsoever. Microsoft even documented the Registry key, although obtusely, on its Technet site.
But dishonest PC sellers could use the procedure to install thousands of copies of Vista and sell them to unsuspecting consumers or businesses as legitimately activated copies. This would certainly violate the Vista EULA, but consumers might not realize this until the PCs they bought started demanding activation — and failing — months or years later.
The following describes the Registry key that's involved.
Step 1. While running a copy of Windows Vista that hasn't yet been activated, click the Start button, type regedit into the Search box, then press Enter to launch the Registry Editor.
Step 2. Explore down to the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ SL
Step 3. Right-click the Registry key named SkipRearm and click Edit. The default is a Dword (a double word or 4 bytes) with a hex value of 00000000. Change this value to any positive integer, such as 00000001, save the change, and close the Registry Editor.
Step 4. Start a command prompt with administrative rights. The fastest way to do this is to click the Start button, enter cmd in the Search box, then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. If you're asked for a network username and password, provide the ones that log you into your domain. You may be asked to approve a User Account Control prompt and to provide an administrator password.
Step 5. Type one of the following two commands and press Enter:
slmgr -rearm
or
rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows
Either command uses Vista's built-in Software Licensing Manager (SLMGR) to push the activation deadline out to 30 days after the command is run. Changing SkipRearm from 0 to 1 allows SLMGR to do this an indefinite number of times. Running either command initializes the value of SkipRearm back to 0.
Step 6. Reboot the PC to make the postponement take effect. (After you log in, if you like, you can open a command prompt and run the command slmgr -xpr to see Vista's new expiration date and time. I explained the slmgr command and its parameters in my Feb. 15 article.)
Step 7. To extend the activation deadline of Vista indefinitely, repeat steps 1 through 6 as necessary

tried it before, don't bother wasting your time it doesn't work
are you really sure ? i need some other opinions please !
try and tell us ;-)
everyone reading this news has already activated with one of the activators in the
forums.
this approach doesn't work. upon the 4th try of using slmgr -rearm an error message is
given that one has exceeded the number of rearm attempts. then when one uses the above
registry change another attempt with slmgr -rearm is successful however upon reboot the
additional 30 days is not given and one is left with whatever time remaining prior to the
4th attempt and the registry is back to it's origianl status.

in tests with several editions of vista purchased at different
times, livingston found that copies of vista ultimate and vista home premium obtained at
the end of january would accept the skiprearm change only eight times. together with the
three postponements made possible with slmgr -rearm and the opening 30-day grace period,
that would give users nearly a year (360 days) of activation-free use. a copy of vista
home basic bought march 14, however, ignored the skiprearm registry change.
this is similar to the slmgrhack -rearm which no longer works. i used this for a few
months and either an update disabled it or i ran out of '-rearm's'. why bother anyway,
use one of the many loaders which seem to be the best alternative at the moment.
i have already tried this way before this post and it dowsnt work if you have used the
rearm trick 3 times. i have tested this on vista ultimate
in case you didn't read, it's only guaranteed to work with ultimate, enterprise and
business editions. the home editions got changed.
it will not work if you are on your third rearm attempt
vista dosent give someone more than 30 days, thats the limit but u can make go back to 30
when it decreases thats all.
gave me an extra 30 days, by then i'm hoping my son has been paid and hes purchased it
for me
if u want a hack that works just stick with the paradox activator
if you install vista with the system eate set to 2099 the timers only run when the os is
running. that means 43200 minutes of run time. on a notebook computer that spends a lot
of time in sleep mode, thirty days becoes 90 days and three rearms might take a year,
before even getting to the additional rearms.
not working ultimate crack is not final
you really are morons! buy the os. we all have to go throu this because of f-u-c-k-i-n-g
pirates and pathetic loosers like you. stupid w-h-o-r-e-s!
if you pay $400 on a microsoft product, you are the moron. the os keeps straying from
what i consider an ideal platform (fast response to input and minimal resources required
to function properly). vista is an overweight underperformer.
having made the
mistakes of purchasing windows for workgroups 3.1, win95, win98, win2k, win millenium, win
xp pro, and win advanced server 2003, i don't care to throw away any more.
hehe is 'morons' really bill him self? :d
does re-arm still work, i was just
tring it on a fresh install, it says it's been sucessful but it's not setting it back to
43200 mins :s
i use a 1-click automated patcher. just
click and it makes all changes in cmdline
and reboots the system. vista is active
and legal. available in the forums.
help me to crack my windowsvista rc1build 5600
hi, i l-i-k-e to s-u-c-k bill gate's d-i-c-k.-.
