Vista Boot Screens

section: download, for your questions: KezNews forum, 12.3.2007

Thanks to desperados who report Vista bootscreens download in our forum and to Rick van Dijck (iemanduitnederland) author of the Boot Screens. Some nice boot screens for Windows Vista.

Please backup your “winload.exe.mui” file before you try this.

How to install:

1. Navigate to c:\windows\system32\en-US for english or \NL-nl for Dutch and so on

2. Open the properties of the file "winload.exe.mui" and take full control of the file so you can move it or replace it.

3. Now copy the chosen bootscreen from the package and replace it with the one in the system32\en-US folder

4. Go to start > Run, and type "msconfig"
5. Choose the "boot" tab and enable "No GUI Boot"

6. Close msconfig and reboot your computer

Vista Boot Screens

By LegendaryC on 12.03.2007 - 22:03
there are two problems with this.

1. there is no winload.exe.mui in c:\windows\system32\en-us
2. even when putting in the first winload.exe.mui it isn't the same as the picture shown.

the weird thing is that vista started up faster then it normally did...

Works a charm!

By northener69 on 12.03.2007 - 22:03
just installed the amd x2 and it worked wothout problems. and there is a winload.exe.mui in c:\windows\system32\en-us.

Vista Boot Screens

By starams5 on 13.03.2007 - 04:03
legendaryc,
you probably did the same thing i did and went to windows/en-us instead of windows/system32/en-us. after i got where i was supposed to be everything was okay. rebooted, nice screen. i would like to add one things to the instructions above if i may. before you do anything create a backup of the original (rar archive, same folder).

edit?

By WeirdClayJ on 13.03.2007 - 04:03
is there a way to edit these boot screens? i want to add "ultimate" to the boot screen i'm using

Random

By OSA on 13.03.2007 - 05:03
would be nice if you could set it up where your boot screen was random on each reboot.

By elven on 13.03.2007 - 06:03

How to take full control of the file (in french)

By witold on 13.03.2007 - 08:03
how to take full control of the file:

Don't Waste Your Time

By vortex360 on 13.03.2007 - 09:03
i installed the "amd" one and all it was was some flat ass pic with no processor there. and the at the bottom this cheesy and cheap looking "starting windows vista" sign. this is crap.

It works fine for me

By northener69 on 13.03.2007 - 09:03
i don't know why you guys are having probs but it worked fine for me. the amd x2 shows exactly as the picture does. i'm running vista home premium if that helps. but it should work fine on any version. strange!

Asking for some ugly Copyright message?

By iemanduitnederland on 13.03.2007 - 09:03
i'm the creator of these bootscreens, and if websites like keznews will keep posting my work i'll consider adding some copyright notes in the bootscreens, which will not make the prettier..

How to take full control of the file (in English)

By rajkmuar21m on 13.03.2007 - 10:03
how to take full control of the file: click-right on mswinload.exe.mui to select “properties”. to go in the mitre “safety” and to click on the “advanced” button. to go in the mitre “owner” and to click on the button “to modify”. to select “administrators” and to click on the button “to apply”. you now took control of the file. to close the windows of “properties”. click-right again on mswinload.exe.mui to select “properties” to go again in the mitre “safety”, to click on the “advanced” button now to click on the button “to modify”, then double-to click on the button “administrators” in the list and to notch the box “all to control”. you now took control - total of the file. to close again the windows of “properties”.

hope this helps

By superior on 13.03.2007 - 12:03
some problems might occur coz you took ownership of the downloaded file not the file in c:\windows\system32\en-us

Full Package Download

By netsendjoe on 13.03.2007 - 14:03
i've put all the bootlogos into a single archive download. anyone can get it here.

http://download.yousendit.com/6c376de32b63066c

oh, and to whomever created these bootscreens, excellant job and i do think you need to add respective copyrights on those, if you do i'll repackage the single archive. after all it is important that copyright holders get the right acknowledgement since their logos are being used.

Wow, all you guys are stupid

By Follow INSTRUCTIONS on 13.03.2007 - 14:03
god is it so hard for people to follow instructions, i followed them and it worked fine... sure these crap boot screen flicker but you get what you pay for and these are free so stop whining.
