it completely hosed up my vista installation when i tried to uninstall it. it is a
virus! beware!
this program is for killing illigal copies of windows vista... sent by microsoft?

first of, it's not a virus. the program works great. did not kill my copy of vista at
all. if you don't like it do a system restore. take time to read the help files.
vista smoker shuts down all the advanced vista features and leaves you with the basics.
meant to catch illigal copies of vista. don't be fooled. use at your own risk!
although it is not for catching illegal copies of vista, it is a dangerous piece of
software. if you must install it, make sure you create a restore point first - you will
need it.
a restore point will not work because it disables it nucklehead and it does use vistas
main security shutdown feature built in. know your facts before you write.
please dont insult me and dont spread malicious lies. i have a legal copy of vista, i
installed smoker. when i uninstalled it the first thing i noticed was 'clear type' was
off - in fact all settings were hosed. i restored to the restore point i had created
before the smoker install. eevrything recovered just fine.
you wrote "if you must install" why would you say that if it is harmfull? obviously you
do not know what you are talking about. and it does attack vistas pre set security system.
anyway we could go back and forth but the bottom line is that this program is dangerous
and should not be downloaded period.
if you dimwits haven't noticed, all it does it change your computer to the system
defaults when you uninstall.
i downloaded and installed it. i like it, but i don't necessarily think it is worth
$39.95. it did no harm to my system. the only thing i noticed is that the auto tuner
turned off windows search service which disabled search in my outlook 2007. that's it.
my machine was a little faster.
funny thing i noticed, is that when you get a
bunch of idiots together in one place, what you get is this:

any powerful tool is dangerous in the hands of an idiot. like a gun.
this tool includes dr/tool.shutdown.c
only an idiot would install that
only an idiot would think that is a virus! there is actually no such thing. it is a name
that some antispyware companies and antivirus vendors gave to an api call in windows.
vista smoker just uses that api call to shutdown your windows quickly. actually it isn't
vista smoker. it is the shutdown.exe file.
duh! fake shutdown virus in a
shutdown executable. duh! it might shut down my computer when i use the shutdown.exe
file!

their superfast shutdown is a separate freeware product. search google, it is highly
popular.
beware of this program. it is bad news. it will take away any administrator privelige
you ever had. it is a virus big time!

.....and mr bill gates you muppet the price of vista in the uk is out of this world its
absurd! but then again even if you sold it for 10bucks people would still want to pirate
it!
other than the very basic tweak ui, no "tweak" programs are or ever have been a good
idea. if you don't know what yer doing (and these type programs rarely give good
explainations of what tweak is performed how)you can hose yer system. my personal opinion
is that these type programs are garbage. learn to use your registry editor, services
panel, and good ol google, and you can do a better job of tweaking yourself, with an
explaination of how it is being done, and how to put it back.

i'm the creator of vista smoker pro. i stumbled upon this site from
looking at my weblogs. i was horrified to see the postings above. xp smoker pro is our
"flagship" product and it is highly popular. i would like to do the same for vista
smoker pro.
however, it seems by the postings above that there are problems. i
would greatly appreciate it if you would voice your concerns and specific problems at our

http://www.xp-smoker.com/contact.html. i would love to find out exactly what problems you
are experiencing so i can fix it.
xp smoker is brilliant.
the shutdown (garbage) comments relate to an optional
install item.
other ill-informed opinons are posted which could put people off. thats
a great shame, the program offers several very useful features and allows you to select
options appropriate to 3 different levels of competence - xp was excellent, vista looks
similar.
when i move to vista i will get this.
vista smoker is not for average user because it has some powerfull options. but i think
that price is too big for a small piece of software.
