Alternative path method....

By Hyperstriker on 30.01.2007 - 02:01
" c:\documents and settings\your name\local settings\temp "
....is not always the temporary/temporal folder/directory path in and for a windows environment.. (at least not for me who always centralize user and system temps in one or different folder/dir... and am sure is not for a lot of users out there who do the same...

for similar case you can try:

%userprofile%\local settings\temp
or in short or classic old 8.3 file naming format:
%userprofile%\locals~1\temp
or
%temp%
or
%tmp%

and... if you already using "vista", the common path for temps is "c:\users\pcasado\appdata\local\temp"
or
%userprofile%\

j3nk0:, making a custom installation media helps on making unattended" installation, and of course as the name says, to "customize" adding user information (such as product key, user name, network, environments settings, applications sets and configs, etc).. in conjunction with patches, sp#, hot fixes and/or additional programs, so in case you want to install the os "again"or in other machine, you just need to boot from the media which the os is... and leave the installation to do all the intros and process without user interaction...
often used for oem system builders of boxes, it admins. and technicians to simplify and for fast os distribution deployment installation in a large pc environment...

* a real good, very simple and well tested alternative tool/method of the opk and solution accelerator for business desktop deployment (bdd)

SORRY, my mistake

sorry.....

and... if you already using "vista", the common path for temps is
