Vista 5744 Sidebar 4 XP

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversricktendo64 made a easy 5744 Sidebar and VAIO Installer for XP.
Install Instruction:
- 1st Download, Extract and Install "Extras.exe" (Fonts & C++)
- Now Download, Extract and Install "5744_Sidebar_XP-Install.exe"
- Insert Vista RC2 Serial (Optional, you can skip this without worry)
- Reboot
- Enjoy!
NOTE
* The Installer adds the C:\VAIO "Enviroment Variable" and Registers "VAIOext"(Shell Extension).
* Rebooting will register sbdrop.dll, wlsrvc.dll and sidebar.exe on Login, "Silently" using RunOnceEx and the Regisry.
* You dont have to patch or register any dll or exe its done automatically.
* I also added Uninstall entries in "Add-Remove Programs" it will uninstall both VAIO and the Sidebar
* You can later add the Vista RC2 serial just by going into C:\VAIO and cliking on "setup.bat".

people should make sure their programs work before they post them! installed okay the first time, but the
gadgets didn't seem to work, so i uninstalled it and installed again and it won't even run now! piece of
s***!
pleasa don't waste people's time.. share something working...
unfortunately i must agree with the comments on this tool - it doesnt work. no idea though. how about the
author coming up with some additional thoughts on getting the gadgets to work.

before you post your comments did you guys first
install extras.exe?
do you have ie7?
requires xp sp2
also try installing dotnet
don't forget 2 re-boot, rebooting registers
the dlls and sidebar.exe
it does work, all widgets including the weather one works on my xp machine.
what i found was that
the weather widget wouldn't work right after install until i restarted my pc.
everyone needs to
read instructions carefully.
restarting registers the dlls and the sidebar exe using the registry and runonceex
btw you can
slipstream the sidebar and vaio directly into your xp cd-rom

this installer is only a modified version of
my slipstreamable add-on for xp, for better resutls slipstream
i did the previous mentioned steps and after rebooting the sidebard worked fine but some gadgets doesnt not
work properly like notes,cpu meter, analog clock so what shall i do???
i followed the instructions, i have dot.net on my xp sp2 corporate version machine with vista transformation
pack. i have rebooted a number of times and reinstalled extras but no difference. the sidebar works fine, but
none of the gadgets work. when i click on a gadget all that comes up is a little white blinking square of
light. it doesnt matter which gadget i try to install, just the little blinking square of light.
here guys i made a alternative sidebar installer...
it shows you if the dlls get registered or not
during login, its no longer silent

i installed version 2 of sidebar but i noticed no difference at all most of the gadgets are still
not working properly and only few of them worked so any other solution u could make???
yep i only changed the dlls register method...
try this cmd file (copy and paste into notepad and
save as cmd file) run it and retry the gadgets

- rebooted
- rebooted 2nd time (for some reason sidebar
did not load)
- weather would not connect
- changed my regional settings advanced input to match my
region select
- rebooted
- all is good

hey i think i know what the issue is, it seems that some peoples
windows arent running the runonceex settings maybe your firewall blocked the run once thinking its bad...
run this cmd file and it fixes most probs you bunch of ungratefull fuckers :p

- this loads the standard gadgest windows.

bottom right hand side you see ' get more gadgest '
- click it

sidebar doesn't work, but make freeze on my system. i use windowsxpsp2+vista transformation pack 5.0
when i try to put a gadget from

ive download it but system windows can not open this file. which program open the gadget ??? thx for help so

use 7zip and simply right click on the .gadget file and unzip it to a subdirectory of the same name example
recyclebin... now copy the umcompressd recyclebin folder to program files\windows sidebar\gadgets and add
.gadgets to the forlder name example recyclebin.gadget
new installer uses installed components

who complains about gadgets when they work, only problem is that you people dont know how to read.
1. install everything as normal
2. ! important install ie7 ! known as internet explorer 7 gadgets are
used with it. after that everything should work fine.
i m trying to install the the vista side bar on my windows 2003 modified machine but i keep getting "ordinal
60 could not be located in the dynamic link library atl.dll" any help would be greatly appreciated
you have to git vaio 2k3, this installers files only work with xp
replace the files in c:\vaio and
c:\program files\windows sidebar with the dll's from 2k3 and you shoud be ok, copy and paste the link below

you mean a difrent skin?
i have some difrent skin patches you can download and apply to the
sidebar.exe included in the download

simply apply the path to sidebar.exe and copy sidebar.exe to the windows sidebar folder and
overwrite the old one... now right click on sidebar.exe and select patch and run vista executable...
do this untill you find the skin you like. (the skin patch you are looking for is fade skin)
i m still unable to install the side on my win 2k3 modified machine
i downloaded the 2k3 vaio and
followed the instruction on registering the dll but still not working keeps getting "ordinal 60 could not be

i installed your v2 and the new extra files. it installed properly and all gadgets
work great. i also download a new driveinfo gadget and used 7z to extract the files and rename it and it works
great. a fine job, keep doing what your doing.

i only have a minor problem in that the first to gadgets in my sidebar (weather
& cpu meter) come up with a pink background, but they work great!
