I'm comparing "BillGates+old MSDN patch" to this real MSDN version. I don't have the unpatched BillGates anymore but I know that "BillGates+old MSDN patch" is closer to real MSDN than just BillGates with no patch.
The old patch changed 3 files. Well, 2 files but 1 was in 2 different places.
Now, if you apply the new patch to the unpatched BillGates or if you download the official MSDN version like I did, then the only difference between the real MSDN version and the "BillGates+old MSDN patch" version is the file "migcore.dll". It's located in:
sources/migcore.dll
support/migwiz/migcore.dll
And here are the differences:

whats differnt ?
why you change the readme file of my pach?
i release it here so everyone enjoys the real billgates to
msdn patch.
guys here is the original readme file made by me legitcyx:
real msdn patch

hi legitcyx.
i dont understand one thing. the previous patch, had the original checksum of the bill
gates version in "c7792c31aeea98be645ab295d35e8eef".
why the "before" checksum of your bill
gates version is different? there are 2 bill gates versions?
the previously patch worked with this
original checksum "c7792c31aeea98be645ab295d35e8eef".
i cant apply yours, cause the original
versions seem to be diferent.
could you please explain me that?
thanks
i tried to check checksum before and after and it saying 1 error detected.
whats the difference between this and the first patch?
the difference in the checksum is due to the different checksum type used, if you scan it again using
'sha-1' instead of md5 you'll get the matching checksum provided you have the correct release.
does this fix the error when upgrading from within xp? at 50% the install stops and gives an error message.
however, if you do a clean install from boot up it works fine.
just to be clear, after patching the iso image, install.
upon key request do you enter a key or not,
after installation, how do you activate?
i wish there was a patch for those of us who already applied the last one.
okay, there is only one file that is different.
i'm comparing "billgates+old msdn patch" to this real
msdn version. i don't have the unpatched billgates anymore but i know that "billgates+old msdn patch" is
closer to real msdn than just billgates with no patch.

new:
0x001d5d1d c0a8 0001
0x001d5d55 c0a8 0001
exactly these are the difference between the billgates and the msdn version.i have nothing to add 420 analyze
it and is correct.
en_windows_vista_x86_dvd_x12-34293.iso - have
en_windows_vista_x64_dvd_x12-40712.iso - want
but if you have a msdn vista, what's the difference you still wont be able to activate of pass wga with it.
to clear something the release of the patch was to just convert the billgates to real msdn version of vista
for just testing purpose.i dont support piracy.
i thought i had bill gates' release but after applying the patch the checksum of my new file is
d1ff9802d93871c9b90fe5542e84f89e
will this not work?
how about the winbeta version x86 and x64, dos it has the same bug that the billgates version has? can i aply
this same patch to it?
the patch was created and tested for billgates release only.it will not work for other releases.
ok.. but does the winbeta version has the same bug? does it need to be repaired anyway?
thanks.
i dont know.i dont have winbeta version
the winbeta (at least the x86 part of it) has the same files as the original unpatched billgates release.
is there a patch to go from billgates+old msdn patch to correct msdn version? i don't want to download the
billgates version again.
can somebody who has installed vista after using this patch please tell us if it works. does it or does it not
need a key for activation after installation? and, can you use it beyond the 30 day limit?
telos i may release a patch to undo old msdn patch.if you have a billgates+old msdn patch to convert it back
to original billgates
hi all....just got an question here, i am running vista6000 now, when i apply the patch, do i have to
reinstall vista?
thnx
isn't a better way that you just install normal billgates vista and when you are asked for key you don't
enter it to get trial version. you can extend 30 days to 60 or 90 (not sure) in command prompt. in this time
it will surely came some crack for vista.
am i right?
i just did an vista6000 patch and i reinstalled it and it is still asking for an key...what do i do?
select no?
thnx
legitcyx, that undo patch would be really welcome. it would save me from redownloading the entire file to get
less then a 1mb of differences.
i really don´t see eny benefits on doing the transformation of the bill gates version into msdn, if it is only
the possibility to install it from xp??
i got the old patch, can i still install this one over the first one or cant i? do i have to dl bg again?
thansk
so you guys that are running vista 6000 now.....
is there a real long lasting fix that will let us
run vista for years to come, or is it some 30 day trick you can do 2-3 times or something?
ok, i think the time has come!!!
go in torrent file in the end of my message, get it, read the doc
files (important!!!) and open the file in folder "standarduserproductactivation"
its an html
file, test it with anything you want, its clear!!!
lets all say a big hello!!! to bill!!!
http://www.mininova.org/tor/489491
i downloaded the files from 'pelopidas', can anybody explain in a few words what this 'activation' is all
about and if it works?
i don't unterstand everyting in the .doc-files and don't know how this
'activation' works.
thanks a lot!
the file it isnt mine, i am not the man who uploaded.
i just found it in mininova and just tell it here
to all users
the uploader is unknown to me and in mininova there isnt any nickname for him, but it seems
he have some good access to ms files...
i don't complain, i just want to know if there is anybody who understands what's in the .doc-files and can
explain it so that everybody understands...
@pelopidas: i know that these files aren't yours, i just
wrote 'files from pelopidas' so everybody knows what files i'm talking about. thanks for your
investigation!
i would like to know what the patching does to the os. i am currantly running vista 6000 bill gates version
with the activation crack where you activate it with rc1 patch files and key (the downside with this method is
you get windows vista (tm) evaluation copy. build 600 in the bottom corner.
that doc is from ms. in short, you must activate your vista, no matter whicherver edition you have.
in the past, we can use leaked vlk (volume licenseing, aka corporation edition) to bypass activation
problem. beginning with vista, ms has done so called "vlk v2", that is, even volume licneseing version has
to be activated (in 2 ways). it seems ms also has controlled over how many times per key can be used to
activate. that's why no legit key has been leaked so far. (it's like warcraft cdkey.)
i'm gonna try it out and i'll let you guys know what's up.
it's an interesting file, but we still need a key. the rc1&2 keys don't work.
after patching billgates iso, is it suppose to change the name or still be called the first thing it was?
kick it will still be called the first thing it was
i downloaded the version billgates and applied the "old patch" burned dvd, i have one connection of 300k,
it's too much slow internet, now i see this new realese of patch. please say a mode to extract the file of
patch and put into my system.

send me the new file of the second patch and i replace the file on my system running! allright? and i have
problems to the famous keys! the windows connect on the server and say "this key is already in use" aff ¬¬
upload the file of new patch on the web services (rapidshare, zshare, megaupload) and write the link here ok?
i request better or i need to turn on microsoft certified developer to extract the file of patch :p
so in short there is no solution yet if i understand.
for the first time i feel like microsoft may win.
usually it takes less time to crackers to bypass protections.
microsoft too smart now? :(
no, it is not. right now you have crack that gives you 6 months of using vista like anyone with a legit key.
and this we've got just when vista hit the net.
in other words: you don't understand.
i have both iso's patched and unpatched. now which iso should i use to patch with the new one
"now, if you apply the new patch to the unpatched billgates..... the only difference between the real msdn
version and the "billgates+old msdn patch"... :-)'
thanks to legitcyx ,billgates, winbeta and all user and admin of keznews.com: this site is awesome!
pelopidas? it's a meee, marioo! ;-)
more seriously, i'm the uploader of the activation documents.
you can download it on microsoft site, but i have shared them for spreading the word...and to help
all finding a final solution for activation.
because it's the only way to get rid off the vista
protection as for xp, imho.
so, if reversers read this carefully and other people, we will quickly
find a solution..
wga cracks and others all are temporary solutions .
because when you
download new updates ,you download often a new version of wga...and the search for patchs start again and
again..
nope the solution is here in this documents, and i think we should discuss about it and not
losing our time to speak about other solutions, since we know to bypass actual version ofactivation for vista
rtm ;-)
my '2 cents :
as it's difficult to understand the vlk2 system, begin to read
the faq and after the other documents;-)
this is the key to full unlock forever vista, guys.
i think this is still the firt patch!
http://rapidshare.com/files/4057807/old.msdn.rar
this one works!!thanks!!
q. what is volume activation 2.0?
a. volume activation 2.0 is a new requirement in the windows
vista™ operating system and windows server® code name "longhorn," which requires activation of each windows
vista license acquired under a volume license agreement.
a. volume activation 2.0 supports
centrally managed volume license keys.
it provides the following two types of keys to
customers:
multiple activation key (mak): although resident on individual computers, this
key is encrypted and kept in a trusted store, so that users are not exposed to it and are unable to obtain it
once installed on the computer.
key management service (kms) key: this key is only installed
on the kms host and never on individual computers.
volume activation 2.0 supports a simplified
setup, and is generally invisible to the users.
by default, volume editions do not require a
product key to be entered during setup.there is an automatic 30-day grace period during which the computer
must be activated.
system administrators can count kms activations using standard system
management software, for example, microsoft operations manager (mom).
windows management
infrastructure (wmi), extensive event logging, and built-in application programming interfaces (apis) can
provide a wealth of detail about installed licenses as well as the license state and current grace or
expiration period of mak- and kms-activated computers.
volume activation 2.0 also may provide
enhanced security through frequent background validations for genuine modules.
this is currently
limited to critical software, but may be expanded greatly over time.(personnal comment :wtf.i hope i 'm
wrong.only security updates can be downloaded automatically with vlk2?)
q. what are the options for
activating volume editions of windows vista?
a. volume activation 2.0 provides the following two
types of keys, and three methods of activation, to customers:
----multiple activation key (mak)
mak proxy activation
mak independent activation
----key management service (kms) key
kms activation
________________________________________
i cut in several comments to be
most clear for all;-)
after all your comments, i will create a summary to understand better with
the important information.
i can send it to keznews (cause i love your good spreading on vista ;-) which
can upload it if they want.or if they don't want i will upload to bittorrent trackers to spread it ;-)
q. what is mak activation?
each product key can activate a specific number of computers.
mak activation is required only once, unless there are significant hardware changes.
if the
use of volume-licensed media is not controlled, excessive activations result in a depletion of the activation
limit.(pc: eheh ;-)
there are two ways to activate computers using mak:
----mak
proxy activation:
enables centralized activation request on behalf of multiple desktops with one
connection to microsoft.
mak proxy activation will be available in the solution code name volume
activation management tool (vamt) which is currently under development with expected availability in 2007.
----mak independent activation:
requires each target computer to independently connect
and activate against microsoft.
_____________
_____________
q. what is kms activation?
a. key management service (kms) enables organizations to perform
local activations for computers in a managed environment without the need to connect to microsoft.
a kms key is used to enable kms on a computer controlled by the system administrator in an organization.
kms activation is targeted at managed environments where more than 25 computers are connected to the
organizational network.
computers running windows vista activate by connecting to a central
windows vista computer running kms.
in case of kms activation, client computers must connect
to a kms host at least once every 180 days to renew their activation. computers that are not activated try to
connect with the kms host every two hours (value configurable).
once activated, these computers
attempt to renew their activation (locally) every seven days (value configurable), and if successful, their
180-day activation life span is renewed.
the computers locate the kms host using one of the
following two methods:
auto-discovery: the computer uses domain name system (dns) service records to
automatically locate a local kms host.
direct connection: a system administrator specifies the kms
host location and communication port
the client computers have a 30-day grace period to complete
the activation.
computers that are not activated within this grace period go into reduced
functionality mode (rfm).
_________________________________________
now having given
the most important part (with cutin few parts) i will explain in few words what is vlk2.(hi sugadaddy !)
if you want more info for vlk2 activation :
http://www.mininova.org/tor/489491
first i assume that parts of my explanation can be wrong ;-)
volume license key (vlk) is the
product key used which allows a single product key to be used for multiple installations.
if you
remember, vlk's (volume licence key, key for volume activation) were leaked for windows xp corporate version.
since volume licensing bypasses activation, all programs and updates can be installed without
problem.
microsoft can hold the company responsible for leaked key, and blacklist the product key
in extreme cases, but if there are keygens ;-)
----------
so,volume activation 2
is for vista and try ( -;) to fix this trick.
there are 2 sort of key to activate your product with
volume activation 2 :
mak and kms.
i-----mak : mutiple activation key-----
mak key can activate a specific number of computers.activation is required only once, unless there are
significant hardware changes.
if the use of volume-licensed media is not controlled, excessive
activations result in a depletion of the activation limit.
there are two ways to activate
computers using mak:
1----mak proxy activation:
enables centralized activation request
on behalf of multiple desktops with one connection to microsoft.
mak proxy activation will be available
in the solution code name volume activation management tool (vamt) which is currently under development with
expected availability in 2007.
2----mak independent activation:
requires each target
computer to independently connect and activate against microsoft.
----- kms :key management
service------
kms enables to perform local activations for computers in a managed environment
without the need to connect to microsoft.
computers running windows vista activate by connecting
to a central windows vista computer running kms.
but client computers must connect to a kms host
(host! not microsoft site!) at least once every 180 days to renew their activation.
the computers
locate the kms host using one of the following two methods:
auto-discovery: the computer uses dns
service records to automatically locate a local kms host.
direct connection: a system administrator
specifies the kms host location and communication port
________________________________________
so after reading this we can conclude:
i think kms volume activation key can be the solution,
because if a reversers create a keygen to generate kms keys.
with this he can provide a cracked service
to be run on your computer to be activated.note that the crack won't be for forcing to regnoize the key as
genuine but for resetin/deleting the 180 days activation renewal.
microsoft can provide a new
version of service, but it can't be a must-have because il won't force all enterprises to update it.anyway
we could kill and replace it with the old..
btw i will have to think about it next hioyurs cause
now i have to go thanks.
________________________________________
i know this may be a real stupid question....but....has anyone tried the xp vlk keygen?
you never know
and like i said this may be a real stupid question...
legitcyx, thanks for old.msdn.rar. i've now got the correct hash.
hum..microsoft change the algorithm for each version of windows and office.
i have tried this with
beta, but no luck...so rmt is the same..
_______________
so my' cents:
please note only
windows vista business and windows vista enterprise can have this volume activation licence!
mak is
less interesting than kms because if a mak key is leaked, microsoft can blacklist it on his server activation.
so,even the activation in needed only once time imagine that a guy want to use this key 2 weeks
after it was leaked, the server can refuse it for activating.
*edit* :we can bypass this probleme
with activating mak through phone, if there is a keygen for it.
for kms, there is't this problem.
all the process of activation is made offline with the kms service installed on computer
server.even the next activation after the 180 days (same way)!
altough it's now possible with vlk2
for microsoft to blacklist kms vlk2 key.
and when you download updates, you will download wga
updated which blacklist your key;)
so,hum..
now i'm not so sure that vlk2 will be the
final answer to activation, because vlk2 key doesn't bypass it automatically anymore..
sorry to have been so sure that vlk will be the solution ;-(
perhaps microsoft has won for fighting
illegal users who want to have automatic updates without changing their wga each month...
can u copy and paste these files within ur os that u installed frm the "billgates+oldpatch" iso, so u can
make it more like the real msdn???????
can someone please upload msdn version of vista to rapidshare so we can download it. thank you so much.
i used this program(windows.vista.rtm activation.crack) and i replaced the both files and it worked...i'm
useing billgates vista6000. you got to follow the instructions for it to work...
could you post the instruciton or tell em where u found them? please and thansk
get it here....and follow the instructions exactly....
http://www.mininova.org/tor/490283
would it be possible if someone was to create an "update server". i know you can host your own update server
with 2003, where updates are downloaded to that server, and then sent out locally. would it be possible to
have someone use a legit key from ms to download all the updates, then package them, or in some way distribute
them out?
i'm not even talking about the possibility of ms being able to shut it down, i'm just
wondering if it's even possible.
i get an error binblock/patchvalidation failed. i never got this error with the first patch.
works.my hash is same as msdn one now.
thank you.
i've patched the 'billgates' build using the msdn-2 patch to have the same hash. i've also installed it
into my system. but it did not give me a 30-day period to activate it. right now i don't have a single icon
appearing in my control panel (completely blank) and i'm not sure when it will expire. i did not enter any
key during instlal and did not use rc1/rc2 type patch to extend it to june 2007.
the question is,
what follows?
the cracks arent working anymore... ms shut the door. we are all doomed! i just have 30 days left, i just cant
support the pressure!
i have my bill gates burnned in dvd what program must i use to pass the visto into my hard drive to apply the
msdn-2 patch, please can enyone help me please???
1. completely disconnect your computer from the internet. vista cannot be connected to the internet in any way
until i say so.
2. reboot with the vista install dvd in your primary cd/dvd drive. install the
ultimate edition, without entering a serial number.
3. vista finished installing...but...when it
reached the screen where it prompted me to create a new account, i held down the shift key and pressed f10.
this brought up the command prompt. from there i typed: taskmgr
4. this brings up the task manager.
i clicked on the processes tab and ended the msoobe.exe process. this will take you to a screen that just says
"other user" and shows the buttons where you can shutdown windows. click the arrow on the right and choose
to restart.
5. while windows is restarting, i pressed f8 to enter safe mode. it automatically
logged me onto the administrator account. i went to start - run and typed: control userpasswords2. then i
clicked on the advanced tab. under "advanced user management" i clicked the advanced button, then on users.
then i right-clicked on the administrator account and selected properties. i unchecked "account is disabled.
this will enable the administrator account and make vista a lot less irritating to use, since all programs
are, by default, run with administrative priveledges when you use the administrator account.
6.
this is the most important step. do not restart. instead right-click on the system tray and click on adjust
date/time. from there click the internet time tab and click the change settings button. then uncheck the box
labeled "synchronze with an internet time server" (most people are skipping this step, which is creating
problems with the "30 days" trick). then restart and enter bios. change the date back to normal. then reboot
into vista normally.
7. once this was done, i reconnected to the internet. i did not re-enable
"synchronize with an internet time server". do not use the crack to activate vista.
note: some
people got the crack that uses the release candidate files. micro$oft has recently updated their key libraries
so this method will no longer work. to the people who got it to work and have an activated copy, you are all
in for a nasty little surprise when vista completely stops working next summer. to all newcomers: stay away
from the cracks here, unless something new comes out that does not use files from old versions of vista. the
30 days activation depends on your bios date before you install vista and the windows time server. by using
the 2099 trick combined with disabling the "synchronize time with an internet server" option, you kill the
30 days countdown until 2099.
using the method above, my friend has had his computer running vista
for a little over 48 hours, and about 36 hours ago, first connected to the internet and even searched for
updates on micro$oft's website. and he still has 30 days to activate. until now i had only installed vista on
a test computer. but with this little trick i plan on installing on my primary machine.
enjoy.
in step 6 where you say go into bios and change date back to normal. when did you first change the date in
the bios
well i have been running vista now for 3 days straight and i have not turned of my computer yet plus vista has
been on my computer now for 10 days and my countdown timer says 43192 and in sustem properties i am on 30 days
left. hmmmmmm i dont know what the deal is but i am having no problems here with it. plus my roommate has
done it on 2 laptops and 2 other desktops and they leave the computers on constantly and their timers say
43191 and they have been on for 5 days straight now. so i guess it all boils down to the computer. we still
have defender activated automatic updates running. so it has to be computer based bc mine has not counted
down the whole time it has been on and i was checking lastnight every 30 minutes nothing was chnaging on it at
all.
plus another thing could be that none the computers here are over 2 weeks old so i don't if that has
something to do with it???
wel bornaries79 might be right bc i have been running vista for 6 days now and i leave mine on and it has not
moved the counter either but my computer is only a week old. i put vista on it as soon as i got it. so it
could be computer based.
reboot and see if it don't change...are ya gonna leave your computers on untill 2099...hehehe...reboot and i
bet you don't have the 30 days left.....
ok i restarted and my time is the same so no problems here!!!!!!
i have only the billgates msdn 2 allready pachted iso file

the dell went to 27 days left after restart and i think this one is actually about 3 months old i thought it
was a newer computer but i was wrong. the rest the computers in the house still have 30 days left and the
timer still the same. i have been getting updates with no problems everything is on nothing disabled except
the time sync thing. i use defender in the house. so i dont know what else it can be but computer related.
my computer is brand new and so is the rest the computers in the house but one and it changed the time.
but to let everyone know yes i am doing the 2099 thing and it is working the way i want it to. i am just
using the downloaded version of vista anyways until i can actually buy a version of vista. i just did not
want to wait til jan. i was sick and tired of xp and it always fucking up and so far vista has been 100
percent running with no problems. i am not doing this to keep this version of vista forever i just did not
want to wait and have to worry about a 30 day thing bc it will be longer than 30 days before it is realeased.
and this way i know what will and wont work with vista so i can decide if i really want to buy it and so far
yeas i am as soon as it omes out!!
seems to me lots of experts in here!! but not one of you,did come with real solution how to get activation
code without screwing computer!! easy way out if someone can get activation key for all vista's .i hope that
one day one of you will be able to beat "microsoft"' secret!! good luck guys!!
i read in other forum that 2099-trick generally does not work.it seems to work because on some pcs the counter
shows always the full test period. but internal counter would go on so that after 30 days vista will stop
working.to test with slmgr -xpr.did anyone here check this?
i am tired! everything has been told...
time to stop. all the information seems to be in looping.
if you want to activate you can
if you want to shit time you can
if you want to fail there is a
way too
lets wait for the first "real" crack.
and hope ms fix that dangerous "windows
explorer" delete bug. almost lost everything. be careful my pirate vista friends.
may the force be
with you.
as i said lots of you guys is in the same pot as me!!we all need solution how to active windows vista, before
time runs out on us.i have still 26 days to go,before my windows stop working!!i did try many things to
activate my windows vista, but i failed like so many of you.i hope someone will come soon with some good
ideas, please do but don't wait too long.!! or i'm in trouble with this windows vista,i try to go back to
windows xp but no luck.anyone know how should i go to old windowsxp !!??? thank you
your subject lines are really confusing. are you thinking of activating vista 5744 rc2? one and permanent
solution which will allow you to use the evaluation copy of your vista until summer is to get a product key
directly from microsoft. links to that url are published everywhere. bear in mind, from the 21/11, these
product keys can only be used once for activation - meaning none of the published product key would work, you
really have to go get one yourself. i think they will stop giving out free product key on the 30/11. meaning
you still have a few more days left.
could someone please re-upload the patch version for the 'bill gates + old msdn patch.'
http://rapidshare.com/files/4057807/old.msdn.rar doesn't work anymore and the torrent link patch only works
for unpatched bill gates.
curious. i installed the x86 (ultimate) version of win vista rtm from the winbeta dvd iso using the 2099
trick and no serial number. hardware: fujitsu amilo pro laptop (single sata hdd). it was installed on the
16/11/2006 and has been in use on a daily basis for approximately 3 hours a day. i have downloaded all of
the ms updates with no problems, and today the timer still shows 29 days of evaluation left.
i did
try the crack on the 19/11/2006 using the rc1 key and two files supplied but got the standard error on reboot.
tried various serials but nothing worked, so had to boot into safe mode change the files back, and do a
rollback using system restore.
conclusion: 2099 trick seems to work in part. the counter has
been on 29 days for at least 3 days. i will keep a closer check on it from now on and report back anything
useful.
regards to you all.
so i did the 2099 tick a about a week ago and it did not work...with all the new steps comming out if i did a
basic reinstall of vista could i try the trick again? would i have to completly reformat and then reinstall?
anyone have a valid vista rtm key or volume license key generator?
does minoverta's 2099 trick work??
that's all i want to know.
install vista rtm (any version)
follow "2 file crack method"
then get rc1 key from
microsoft site
use this key to activate
10000000000%%%%%%%% it works !!!!!
2 file crack method means method of crack having -xms and token.dat file
go to microsoft site and register or log in
"http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview/register.mspx"
u vl get key via mail.
get me ur views on above !!!
joley, yes, minoverta trick works if you add step 0 - to change your bios date first to 2099.
vista is a royal pain in the ass! from trying to activate this shitty os to having to put up with the all the
stupid "are you sure?" security questions. ie. you get 3 or 4 security prompt if you only want to create a
folder in the program files folder.
i'm tired of this shit! i'm sticking with my legit winxp for
as long as can. this crappy os is making me look at linux, now!
excuse my language.
don't worry some genius somewhere is working on a full proof activation anything man made can be broken or
hacked beleive that!!!!!
everyone is wanting to crack the activation of vista rtm, why? 5 years in the making and i have to say vista
is a huge disappointment, on all levels. i have been a beta tester for vista since day one and to be fair i
was in denial thinking the final release was going to be soo vastly improved. it wasnt. all i can see it
pointless whistles and bells, the gadget thing, worst idea ever, just clutter. and even better the many
articles sinuating people will need to purchase new pcs in order to run the vastly improved vista, it isn’t
that good.
with all the versions available it becomes a pointless exercise, since when it comes
down to it everyone will want ultimate edition at the fear of loosing out on something. nearly everyone runs
xp pro, why because xp home is a downgrade right and most feel they are missing something, when with xp home
the only 2 area's it is missing is joining ad domains and installing iis, though there is a work around to
this. but for most home users it is not a issue, but as always, everyone wants xp pro. vista ultimate edition
is £369, yikes.... serious the cost does not justify the product, stay with xp guys and wait for legitimate
sp3 release, to be released shortly after vista. at astonishing prices like this, it has to be said, microsoft
are certainly encouraging piracy with this one, though the company wouldn’t be where they are without piracy.
bare in mind, there are many who are still using windows 98, why, it does the job, with xp truly
only being a gui upgrade, same means and methods, along with a formidable amount of bugs. vista is another
gui upgrade and but poor at that. since they advertise it was re-written from the ground up, if you’ve been an
early beta tester you’ll agree this certainly isn’t the case. my case with the new gui interface is further
strengthened when in reality, most comments are purely down to the new gui, which isn’t new. on looking behind
the scenes everything remains the same, why, because it suites and does the job, so in that event, vista is a
sp for xp at best with a profitable hiked up price. though as a marketing strategy, if its expensive then it
must be vastly improved. great sales pitch. but sadly that’s all it is.
though i’m not a apple
user, steve jobs and his team must be pissing their pants, with this poor release from microsoft, serious to
further strengthen apple macs in the market place, this is exactly what the have been wanting to see, with
claims apple are already working on a vista 2 a replacement to microsofts worst than worst vista. really
wouldn’t take much to improve on. bill gates is right to stand down in 2008, with releases like this you
really learn to take your money and run to the hills.
i really do hope a activation work around for
vista rtm is released soon to the scene, that way everyone can install and run for free, which is all the
product is worth. that said, i’ll buy it when in february once the actual product is released and shortly
diminished afterwards, swiftly followed by a hugely decreased price of £79, purely to be legal.
some companies will buy the product, why because they can brag we’re running vista, you know the typical, the
so frequent un-knowledgeable it directors and it managers of this world, not to mention with many companies
outsourcing, they’ll purchase on the basis of false recommendations and of course sale pitches.
final comment, windows vista – oooohhhh dear…… fairly good job with the office 2007 upgrade. not bad at all.
great comment treachery, the constant security questions are about as stupid as it gets. you're right, take
note guys and gals, stay with xp, like treachery say, it makes you think of going to linux, or apple.
with all the extra pointless whistles and bells microsoft are certainly trying to target home users with
this release, gadgets etc are not a requirement to corporations nor the security prompts, as with myself,
corporate pcs are locked down via server logons and domain security policies etc, not to mention corporations
are not an issue, they will buy regardless staying legal etc. but with a large percentage of home users
struggling with pcs, the constant security questions will undoubtedly just make the matter worse. rather than
make the individual feel relaxed, they are more than likely going to feel as though they have done something
wrong time and time again, wouldnt you.
i know my parents, inlaws etc would.
its all in
the planning and preparation, sadly microsoft havent done enough research. just purposely delayed the product
to hike up awareness, sales etc.
it is a matter of taste, people were saying the exact same thing when xp came out. stop with w2k, xp isn't
secure, blah blah blah...
of course you can win, but can you honestly say the product has 5 years in development written across it.
security issues will always be there, and if vista is purely a security resolvement then, yup its a xp sp
update with a slightly different interface. you have to change the user interface if your going to hike up
prices to such a level.
look at xp, then look at 2k, 98, 95 etc, beyond the gui, examine the
functions, the workings behind. soo similar, infact exactly the same, why and you have to agree they work.
this is also true with vista, with most attention being made to security flaw, with many, many annoying
prompts. are you sure you want to go to the toilet, yes, no are you really sure, yes, no really are you sure,
yes, get my drift.
it isnt about winning, its about being realistic, on what the consumer is faced
with. £369 for ultimate version, yikes. i guarantee this will soon drop, certainly by half in the first
year, the only reason for not would be on the basis of pride, rather than realism. pirated copies will be
everywhere, more soo than with xp with work arounds always being released., the except to the rule is
companies, who may upgrade, but probably more down to the fact they recently purchased a open license, and
they are automatically licensed to install and run vista. i still know many who are running windows 98, which
as you will agree microsoft want these and home users to upgrade to vista, hence the release.
security is and always be a issue, linux, unix, mac and microsoft all suffer from it. microsoft are and to be
honest very good with their security. and why, the highest percentage of users are running pcs with 95, 98,
2k, xp etc, and due to this they became a more popular target, understandable. if the table was to turn to
suddenly everyone moving towards apple macs for example then certainly, the security flaws within it would be
soon exposed.
but is it really worth that expense for security loop holes. you said it yourself the
only words you had to say was security, rather than anything else. though much better than, i love the new
interface.
they could win, and due to popular demand, many will install because its the latest
fangle, nothing more. and those who do, are not buying the product they are using a pirated copy, hence the
rtm release and the hope of a activation patch.
if this remains true, then "they can't win,
whatever...." why, because, people are running pirated copies, not original £369 retail boxed versions. and
if your reading the post then you too are looking at pirated copies. the hope of getting round the 30 day
trial... saving pounds, not buying, so they can't win...... because they havent.
3.11 to 95 was a
huge migration, xp to vista is no where near this.
yikes microsoft, what are you guys thinking
of.....
this time next year it will be like a dfs or mfi sale 50% off. he ha :-)
i agree with you but like so many of us dont you just know we'll all end up running vista regardless. either
original version or pirated.
thats life.
no way i though, i have been running vista rtm for about a week, and why anyone would want to activate the
product is beyond me.
i really cannot find anything positive to say about the product, but what i
can say is:
vista rtm is xp fcuk'd.
no way, worst release, i'd rather run windows
3.11.
so on that basis, like many i'll stay with xp for the moment, but will definately consider
moving to linux following this vastly poor release.
plz tell me is it work how long i can use vista with this trick ...!!plz tell me !!!
simply put, having a pre-release version or a rtm version is the problem. pr's are all registered with
microsoft and dont think that they will just let you keep using them, the beta's have bugs, and all it takes
is one push of a button and any beta will crash. i should know. the same applies with the rtm version.
microsoft logs all invalid attempts at activation and can simply update those copies to cause a crash. try
purchasing a retail copy, either thru msdn or technet, and then start applying patches and cracks, because
microsoft will have to be very carefull with the retail copy.
rtm is not retail!
msdn is
not retail.
there are a few solutions with activation. vista uses .net 3.0
if one was
smart, one would realize that the activation program is "open source"... ohhhhhh.... ahhhhhhh
problem is actually accessing the source and providing a re-distributal version for all versions, languages
and makes. yes, thats right, language determines the ultimate meathod of activation.
if you own,
or pirate, a copy of visual studio, beta or not, you should be able to figure out what i am talking about.
search for ()array::act(105tg*****1rty5)[]&exec()services.msc&-s()[]
that will get you
started. and yes, that is code.
uh why didn't we all think of that.... because its not that easy...
i searched for your code, and
yes it is there, but even unloading the process there is no way to successfully edit it and save the changes
while the program is running and ending it just causes a crash.
if you care please, explain how we
are able to do so...
terry? you know work has a static ip dont you?
try booting in sdk mode.
does anyone else still have the billgates w/ msdn 1 to original msdn patch? or billgates w/ msdn 1 to
billgates patch? thanks!
-joe
then just buy windowblinds 5 and get the vistaxp theme from a torrent site. 20 bucks for windowblinds sounds
better than 250 for the ultimate upgrade to me.
i found some undo patches and some other information on the vista releases.
http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/229637/revenreleasevistav1.rar
microsoft windows vista operationg system should be never sold for more than 19.95!
why
people will ever pay microsoft tax of such magnitude as microsoft is trying to milk them from?
when you think about it, a price cannot be put on a method that will increase productivity. windows vista will
increase productivity. you are also not forced to buy vista, you could spend $40 and get windows 98...
do
you really think over 5 years of work is worth $20? if you do, why not just convert to macs and sell your soul
to the people who believe they are invulnerable to viruses, haha. although, pirating vista is fun - so i
hear...
