Vista RTM Evaluation Copy Desktop Watermark Patch

Tip: Click here to update all your PC's outdated driversHi there people, here's a little guide on how to get rid of that stupid "evaluation copy" watermark in the bottom right corner of your Windows Vista RTM. Some may not see it yet, but believe me it will show up after a few reboots.
There are 2 ways to get rid of the watermark:
1. Replace your original user32.dll.mui file with my patched version of the file.
2. Edit your own user32.dll.mui file using a resource hacker.
Option 1:
1. Go to your 'C:\Windows\System32\xy-XY' directory and locate user32.dll.mui (Where C:\ is the drive you installed Vista on, and 'xy-XY' is the folder corresponding to your language: en-US for English, fr-FR for French, de-DE for german, etc)
2. Right-click user32.dll.mui and select Properties. Go to the Security tab and click the 'Advanced' button. Go to the 'Owner' tab and click the 'Edit' button. Select 'Administrators' and click 'Apply'. You have now taken ownership of the file, as Windows will point out to you.
3. Close the property windows. Right-click user32.dll.mui again and select Properties. Go to the Security tab again, click the Advanced button. Now double-click 'Administrators' in the list and tick the 'allow' box for 'Full control'. Close the property windows again.
4. Now, rename user32.dll.mui to 'user32.dll.mui.bak'. This way you have a backup, just in case. If you don't want a backup, delete it.
5. Finally, copy my patched user32.dll.mui file to the same directory as the original file.
6. Reboot and you're done! No more annoying watermark on your desktop!

iīve got the vista rtm but i canīt see any evaluation copy watermark on my desktop. and i rebooted it many
times.

and i canīt find xy-xy too. i.ve many others, but no folder like that. maybe thatīs cause i have noch

i never found the folder xy, but i found the file user32.dll in this folder

pirating scene is too often overrun by stupid, uneducated kids who can't follow simple instructions.
umm sorry to ask im very young and was wondering what is a watermark or the watermark??
wonderful! by using reshack i changed "build 6000" into "mdmrulez".... great....
it's done in my pc
i have 64 and 32 bit on same disc installed
64 bit works great and patched activation,
but file
for water mark does not exist but copied modified one to system32/en-us but watermark still shows.
it says that the file is in use, but in what? should i kill some services?

but in 64bit watermark dont remove... :(
i have an fr-fr folder and patch the file, it's ok for me, but when i logon i don't have access to the cross
for close windows. any suggest ???

i have tried to patch the file in syswow64/en-us and it still will not remove the watermark is there anything
else that would to be patched?
i have also patched the syswow64 and the system32 and it still is there. doesn't seem like many people use
this version...
ditto on the 64-bit. i patched the system32 and syswow64 .mui files and still it doesn't work. i've also
deleted the backup files in the windows\winsxs\backup folder and it's still a no-go. it does suck to have
it there, but atleast vista is activated. i'd rather have it activated with a watermark than not activated.
it would still be nice to get a patch for it, i can't find anywhere that it has the watermark info.
