yeah crack will expire on may 31st 2007 which is when the rc2 5744 timebomb is set for but 7 months is plenty of time to find a more permanent solution.

all you have to do is kill the timebomb

i installed vista ultimate, so no keys i tried worked.... anyone know where a ultimate key might be??

just tried the crack on vista 6.0.6000 build 6000 and it wont let me overwrite pkeyconfig.xrm-ms. i'm trying to overwrite it from my xp drive, not a dual boot system. oh well maybe a better solution will arrive. and i thought there was supposed to be a boot image?? oh well cant complain!

well, after installing with blank serial. i did the crack and activated with my beta key. this went fine, but after the 4-5 reboot i suddently get evaluation copy in the right lower corner. my installation says genium install. anyone know how to get rid of the evalutation copy note ?

northener69: did you make sure that you took full ownership and control of pkeyconfig.xrm-ms from within vista? that's how this patch is designed to work.

you will get a valid key for vista rc1, these keys will work as im using one of them :()

register for a valid beta rc1 key, install vista without entering the key. then replace the token and key files as instructed in the crack. reboot then use the rc1 key you aquire for the link given, youll know its worked because it will throw up an eval tag on the bottom right corner of the screen.

you may not need to reinstall vista, run the crack then reboot and it will ask you to enter valid key, sorted!

myth9o are you trying to enter the serial to instal vista ifso leave it blank and just click on next then choose vista ultimate from dropdown menu. you will need to apply crack from within vista inorder to change the security settings.

yeah thats the problem why i have to reinstall, i did not do that the first time while installing, full instructions werent released with the winbeta version i have. also thanks for the help.

ok this is what i did before i did a clean install in my computer i ser my bios date to 2099. i did a full system install formated my harddrives and everything. after i got into vista then i changed the date back to the right date. i have been running the rtm version from this site now for 2 days and i still have 30 days left for activation. and i have gone towww.microsoft.com and have downloaded programs that need the geniun validation and it validtaed and let me download the file i needed. so i am having no problems or worries about the activation. everything is working just fine. i did the same thing when i would download a win xp version and i used it for almost a year and it was still saying 30 days left for activation and was able to download from the microsoft site with no problems and all updates worked!! i hope this will help alot of you out that have been worrying about the activation. i am a computer technician been working with computers for 13 years and that was one trick i learned from microsoft themselves when i would work on computers!!!

i've been trying for 2-3 days since i first saw it go on bittorent, i cannot get it to download fast at all, in fact, 99.9999% of the day it's not downloading at even 1 kbps, it's 2-3 days now and all i've downloaded is 2.33 mb says bittorrent....

why is it this slow, i know everyone is trying to get it, but how did you fella's get it so fast and have it already and i can't get it period?

johnnycd ok the way i got my copy was i use utorrent program which you can get at www.utorrent.com and i chose the first link for download from this page. also when utorrent starts make sure to set you speed to the right upload speed like me i have 384 up so i choose the 384 up. it took me 1 hour to download it there but you have to put in consideration that everyones internet is different to i am on comcast.net cable internet with a 6mb/s down 384kb/s up also another hint if your running xp sp2 search a torrent for pc optimize and run it and it will speed up your connection sp2 puts blocks on incoming and outgoing connections hope this helps!!!

peeps that are having problems copying these files, go in safe mode and copy from there, make sure you guys have back ups.

there should be a text file with the crack you've download that explain everthing step by step. it's not hard at all to do this, it's common sense.

appdata is a hidden folder.

ok bornaries79was right about the workaround but he did leave one thing out on it but he has also been sick like he has said so i can't hold it against him!! but when you do the bios date change unhook the internet install vista then make sure you turn off the sync with servers for the time, then you can chnage the date in windows or reboot the system go back in bios and then change the date back that will stop the countdown but keep the sync time off bc it syncs with microsoft anyways and they can get alot of information from your computer that way anyways ... take care bornaries79 get well soon btw guys i got bornaries79 email and actually talked to him he is fighting with a bad kidney problem and bladder problem so give him your regards all thanks

i just wanted to clear up i did the 30 day work around after it was poseted yesterday by bornaries79 and it has been over 24 hours and it is still at 30 days left for activation and yes wga files and updates work no problem installed the october directx for a game it validated windows no problem

in regards to bornaries79's method, it might not affect the time bomb, but how is he able to validate his install and d/l updates if he doesn't use a cd-key?

after taking control etc, rebooting it would not let me use any keys. i went to various sites and used many keys and no joy for me. still i'm not bothered as its way to early to get excited about vista. will continue with trusty old xp. as for the bios method i can't be assed!

i did the 2099 rollback and it works, don't know if its true but just make sure to disconnect from the net and un check synchronize with microsoft in the clock options, then roll back in the bioss it will automatically change the windows time :)

when registering for your key i found a way to get a second key by accident what you do is after you get your first key from the microsoft site copy and save and then click the back button once and it will refresh your registration and give you a second key so make sure you save both ,i did try it again and it says you reached your key limit but thought i would share this info as it helps lol

to stop the software licensing service follow this
click start and then run.
key in services.msc and press ok. the services applet will now load.
to stop and disable a service, just right click on a service and select properties.
then, in the properties box just click stop.

i've try a lot of times to crack my windows vista and when i follow the steps, it tells me an error and the liscence expired message. the best thing here is, instead of trying so many things is to wait for an official release. up till now, none of this versions are oficial.

reading all the [posts.. several ppl need sn's... none needed for the free 30 days. trial..

how do you check how long you have left on activation?
i installed vista and have had no warnings or messages indicating i must activate. i have no watermark on the screen, nothing that you guys are saying you get. all i did was install. no messing about with files etc. did set bios to 2099 but forgot to disconnect internet so moot point there.

any advice would be appreciated

a lot of the same question has been answer aboved. you won't get any watermark on the bottom right corner unless you replace those two files and used the 5744 key to activate your windows vista. i have tried setting the date in the bios when installing but probably you'll get a warning to activiate your windows about maybe 3 days before lock on you.

well i have been running windows vista now for about 6 days now and i still have 30 days left for activation. i have been downloading updates with no problems and i have installed planty of wga files with no problem.

this is what i am going to do as bornaries had said.
1. disconnect the net. set year to 2099
2. mount the .iso in windows xp using imagedrive.
3. start vista installation.
4. vista will ask to confirm date time when it first boots, leave the year to 2099
5. disable windows time service
6. restart and go to bios and change year back to 2006
7. now connect to internet.

this may work. bornaries can you tell if anything is wrong.

bornaries, if you got to a command prompt and type 'slmgr -dli' what is the result? also, how often are you rebooting your computer... and how long do you leave it on? those all seem to affect vistas built in timer.

if you follow bornaries79 method. if you run "slmgr -xpr" this will tell you when your licence will expire. if i run it it gives me 30 days 5 days after using this method, and without using a key.

ok i just wanted to let everyone know a lil secret. i have a friend that just got his windows from msdn he is supsribed to it. well just to let everyone know something the bill gates version number is exactly the same as the msdn one. so there is no difference except that he has an actual key to activate his copy. hope this stops all the confusion!!

ok my friend came over with his laptop and he has an official copy of the msdn vista. we checked the version number exactly the same as the bill gates version i am running. we have browsed through the programs and everything on the two version and there is no difference at all between the two. the only difference mine is showing 30 days left for activation and his is activated but he also got a valid key. so i don't understand what the difference is suppsed to be? we don't see no difference in anything not even in performance or anything. so if you have a bill gates version use it bc its the same as the msdn one. take care!!

i just found something:

slmgr.vbs -dli
and it gave me at: 13.42hr - 42772 (29 days), 00:14hr - 42407, 00:36 - 42407, (this was when i turned windows time service off.
after some usage it gave me : @ 00:38hr - 42405..... after a reboot it gave me : 00:41 - 42407.
the timer has been stopped i guess. testing is still going on, keep y'all posted


just did another reboot. after 7 minutes of working time, the timer did actually stop !!!! timer gives me : 42407 again!
it can't be that simple :s

to achive above i did the following:
1. disconnect vista box from internet
2. set date to 2099
3. install vista
4. after finalizing the vista install set date back to realtime (2006 duh)
5. enter services.msc in run, search for windows time serve and kill it, set it to disabled.
6. reboot vista, check time, play some more, reboot, chec time.


ow, forgot something.

during install (3): disable the internet time sync thingy!

the windows vista timer counts down in chuncks of time... if you reboot every hour your timer will probably not decrease at all...

if you go much longer than an hour and check it (say 100+ minutes) it will decrease.

we need to find the registry key where the timer data is being stored so we can 1. change the default value from 30 days to whatever.. or 2. change it back to thirty days at each boot.

there are some encrypted keys in the registry that are hidden unless you give yourself permission to see them. i believe this is where that data lies. it may be as simple as copying the key values when you first install and restoring those keys at every boot... which is very easy.

anyone want to give this a try? one definitive way to assess if this method will work at all is to have some utility to completely back up the registry, run your computer for several hours and reboot, restore that registry backup, reboot again and see what the timer says at each of these points.

anyone know of a good way to do a complete registry back up and restore?

using the 2099 method all looked fine but to make sure i set the year to 2007 and lots of things stopped working, for example you can't load the control panel. so it looks as though simply using that method doesn't work.

well i have been running vista with the 2099 now for 8 days still have 30 days left for activation. well i did the turn the date to 2007 like you said and everything still works fine for me. no problems at all none. and my friend running the bill gates version also tried it and everything worked still for him. maybe it is all based on the computer you have my computer is brand new and so is his and ours say vista capable with it!!!

my pc isn't new but is definately vista capable, dual xeon system. i'm running the same version but with the msdn patch.

might re-install, it's possible i made a mistake. i unplugged my adsl connection, set the date to 2099, installed without entering a key, disbled licensing service, rebooted again for good measure and then set my date back.

one thing i didn't do was stop the time server service just disabled time synch in the clock settings.

isn't a better way that you just install normal billgates vista and when you are asked for key you don't enter it to get trial version. you can extend 30 days to 60 or 90 (not sure) in command prompt. in this time it will surely came some crack for vista.

just go online, get an rc1 key, install in, crack it, activate it. you got like 8 months to use it till a full crack is out.

i just did as "bornaries79" has expl. above. tried it on two different computers and both with the same effect.

installed the vista rtm bill gates version with the supplied key, no watermark, works nicely. there is a patch that supposedly circumvents the 30 day activation period, anybody had sucess with that?

hi...the files that include pkconfig and tokens...apparently if these two files are overridden, including some steps taken in safe mode, it satisfies the 30 day activation....true? jeff

yes, but the files you used to replace tokens and pkconfig are from a beta version of vista. all beta versions expire in june 2007... and so will your vista if you use these files. so yes, you get around the 30 days (which you could do with slmgr.vbs -rearm anyway a max of 4 times) but your install will fail after june 2007

so, i guess we just wait until a patch is reasdy within the next 30 days.

by the way, in vista, where can one see the exact build (that very long number) so i can convince myself its the final gold build. also, what is the difference between my version and the msdn version? thnx

jeff, go to the link i posted to get your rc1 serial. once you have thatm you replace the files in the rtm crack. now that those are replaced you can activate your full version as a beta version. then you have until the timer runs out on the beta files. it's really too easy.

same here. i tried the activation crack because the 30 days trick doesn't work for me unless you reboot the machine every once a while. so i apply the crack and enver rc key got from m$. it says there is a problem 0xcxxxxxxx something like this.

i have too x64. i have used the 30 days trick for 2 days and still says 30 days. and i dont reboot once in a while. i starting to believe that maybe the trick can work or not depending on your motherboard. maybe the place where people get their vista, i use the winbeta rtm. maybe they are just not doing it right.

hmm wonder what you mean this is as far as i can see the same as all the above. i did some 10 installs in the past 2 weeks and tried 'm all.the until-june07-thing works but thats not what we want do we? the bios trick 2099 seems on my pc to slow down the 30 day countdown process in a strange way.(indeed if you restart every now and then the slmgr.vbs -dlv keeps the minutes intact after reboot, but if you don't reboot in an hour or so then it dóes countdown after restart,weird thing,or maybe i'm too stupid to understand it)so it is of some use but not permanent.searched everywhere but no workin'thing as of now...it seems.

also i think that the screenshots which say genuine under winver are made after the rc1 key switch files crack, but before restart. in my case (many times install with different providers of the tokens etc. files) it indeed says in winver the same thing:genuine no expiration to be seen.also no watermark. but after reboot winver says the june07-thing.i think best way is (for now) the bios thing and then reset when it counts down to 1 day do that 3 times(if that still works then) and hope for a real smart guy to figure it out meanwhile. my xp will do fine untill then i guess.

not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but futzing with the computer's clock changes the expiry date. for example, my copy is set to expire on dec. 20th, 29 days from now. if i set the clock a week ahead, slmgr.vbs -xpr tells me the expiry date is dec. 27th. obviously, disabling windows time and clock sync isn't going to stop the countdown. as soon as the computer has counted down 30 days, the internal kill switch gets flipped. but what if the clock could be stopped altogether? would it be possible to somehow stop the computer from keeping time?

as as i know, the main files for vista activation are winlogon.exe & slc.dll
these need to be cracked/patched in some way.

ive tried the crack several times and have followed the directions to a t.
but everytime i reboot into normal mode, before i evan get to the vista interface..it asks me for a valid cd key..i got one from ms for vista rc1 and put that in and no go..i thought if this was working right i would be able to put the key in after windows booted into the gui not before..any ideas?

this cracked worked a few days ago...now not any more...after a restart, you click log in, and it asks you for a key...and the rc key cant activate it...

disable defender service its calling home and in msconfig from startup and after every reboot your time should reset on the 30, 29, 28 days check it by doing a slmgr -dli and comparing the time also kill windows updates and internet time sync it seems that windows so called defender is doing bad things !!!!!

this didn't work at all. it would not accept two valid rc1 validation keys. i did a clean install on new drive and followed all instructions to the t and even tried that 2099 trick.

ok here's the deal. i had original msdn rtm (no patch and no cd key)
tried like hell to get it to work without fail. finally i managed to get it to work. the reason it worked is that there seems to be different versions of the tokens and pkeyconfig floating around.

the ones that worked for me are from dr. hisham (core) and raven

you will find them in this 17mb download. use these and chuck the rest of the crap out.

also - get the rc1/2 key generated from the note in dr. hisham nfo - its a french site and seemed to work for me

could someone report if get succesfull activating in the last 2/3 days?
there is one "activator" program in this 17mb pack. i didnt want to try it as i still have 26 days left. please report only a real succesful case.

have tried several versions of the supposed crack. none worked. following exactly as it says, replacing the files, rebooting and then putting in serial from microsoft. the one i had when using rc1 and rc2 beta's doesn't work on bill gates version. getting a new one, gives the exact same error. about license evaluation failed.

the 2099 thing didn't work for me either, with time service disabled, switching off internet time services, timer still counts down on the 30 days.

yes, it's working if you succed activating within nov 30 . to crack rtm you need the crack-files and a valid rc1 activation code. the cracks makes it possible to use the rc1 code to activate rtm but you need to make sure it's not bin used before. to get the rc1 code go to this page as lolo described:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview/register.mspx

if you want info about only succesfull atemps to activate rtm, please go find the crack named: "windows.vista.rtm.activation.crack-ind.rar" and then the instructions but you still need to use an unused rc1 activation key. you also need a valid mail address. i can mail you the right crack files if you like.

so the key seems to be an "unused" rc1 key.
i´ll try to get another one from ms.

ok guys, this is the deal.

i received a brand new key from ms(created another ms live id with gmail)

with this key i made the usual crack (replace the tokens.dat etc) and it worked!

so the secret to activate seems to be a never used rc1 key.

and i was thinking that ms was doing a harder check on the activation process.

for safe i am turning off automatic windows updates now.

well i have been running vista now for 3 days straight and i have not turned of my computer yet plus vista has been on my computer now for 10 days and my countdown timer says 43192 and in sustem properties i am on 30 days left. hmmmmmm i dont know what the deal is but i am having no problems here with it. plus my roommate has done it on 2 laptops and 2 other desktops and they leave the computers on constantly and their timers say 43191 and they have been on for 5 days straight now. so i guess it all boils down to the computer. we still have defender activated automatic updates running. so it has to be computer based bc mine has not counted down the whole time it has been on and i was checking lastnight every 30 minutes nothing was chnaging on it at all.

plus another thing could be that none the computers here are over 2 weeks old so i don't if that has something to do with it???

hey guys, believe or not but the 2099 trick seems to work. i've been using vista for 3 days now and it still says "30 days left for activation" and windows update seems to work perfectly. here's what i did:

1. unplug your internet.
2. set the bios date to 2099.
3. clean install vista.
4. after it's all installed and you're on the desktop enter time settings and disable "internet time synchronization".
5. run "%systemroot%\system32\services.msc", stop and disable "windows time" service.
6. turn off your computer.
7. plug your internet back.
8. turn on your computer.

that's it !

wel bornaries79 might be right bc i have been running vista for 6 days now and i leave mine on and it has not moved the counter either but my computer is only a week old. i put vista on it as soon as i got it. so it could be computer based.

i think is the first time i hear about this step 5 in the 2099 solution.

you will get a valid key for vista rc1, these keys will work for new full vista as im using one of them

when registering for your key i found a way to get a second key by accident what you do is after you get your first key from the microsoft site copy and save and then click the back button once and it will refresh your registration and give you a second key so make sure you save both ,i did try it again and it says you reached your key limit but thought i would share this info as it helps lol




how long do tohse keys last?

2099 trick actually doesnt work as expected. if you use your computer for more than 2 hours, the counter will save the time the pc has been on. next time on boot it will keep the time not reset back to 43200.

go to run and type slmgr.vbs -dlv

it will show the total time you have. it decreases after computer is on for 2 hours.

i ran the slmgr.vbs -dlv all the time and my counter does reset to 43191 thats where it has been since i got vista installed. all the computers here are that way but the oldest one here. i can't explain why it is working for me but it is.

i read in other forum that 2099-trick generally does not work.it seems to work because on some pcs the counter shows always the full test period. but internal counter would go on so that after 30 days vista will stop working.to test with slmgr -xpr.did anyone here check this?

i noticed some weird thing and wanted to share. my "the windows ® experience index" was 3.1 when using a p4 2.0 ghz 100 mhz fsb cpu with the ram running at 266 mhz. then i upgraded the cpu to p4 3.2ghz ht 200 fsb which also made my ram run at 400 mhz and reinstalled vista. my "the windows ® experience index" changed to 3.0.

you'll need new sound card drivers. if you've got a revolution 7.1 or any other m-audio product, you're sol for the time being.

if you use realtek sound chip then you can download vista drivers from reatek's website !

bottom line is the 2099 trick does not work. the clock ticks down no matter what method you use. it has nothing to do with what hardware you are running on. since when does hardware determine the functionaltiy of a timer built in to software? it looks like ms has one upped all of us for the moment. enjoy your 30 free days.

well the 2099 trick is working just fine for me. just bc you cant get it to work then thats not our fault sorry better luck somewhere else. been running vista over a week and no problems at all!!

i did that trick n at 1st it was fine for a few days...timer stayed at 431xx without changing.. then recently it started counting down every minute i turn on my pc.. meaning it is now counting my pc's usage time... turn the pc off n it stops counting.. so for me the 2099 trick works only 50% i guess..

i wonder if there might be a common aspect for those that seem to be having success with the 2099 trick. it might be the case that those who are successful are using a single hard drive system and those that aren't successful and using a dual boot system with vista installed on a separate hard drive????

microsoft has stopped providing serials for beta versions , so we have to wait for a real working way to cheat the activation process !
most probably something that will fool windows to believe that activation has already been applied !


curious. i installed the x86 (ultimate) version of win vista rtm from the winbeta dvd iso using the 2099 trick and no serial number. hardware: fujitsu amilo pro laptop (single sata hdd). it was installed on the 16/11/2006 and has been in use on a daily basis for approximately 3 hours a day. i have downloaded all of the ms updates with no problems, and today the timer still shows 29 days of evaluation left.

i did try the crack on the 19/11/2006 using the rc1 key and two files supplied but got the standard error on reboot. tried various serials but nothing worked, so had to boot into safe mode change the files back, and do a rollback using system restore.

conclusion: 2099 trick seems to work in part. the counter has been on 29 days for at least 3 days. i will keep a closer check on it from now on and report back anything useful.

i leave my computer on almost 24 7 bc it records shows i watch on tv for me. i use the mce for my satllite. i have done the 2099 trick and i have restarted it a few times and my timer is still standing still. i installed vista over a week ago. i left my computer on for 2 hours restarted timer stayed the same. ley my computer stay on for 3 days straight before restart checked timer it was counted down then after i restarted my timer went back to 43191 where it was as soon as vista got done installing. i run vista just like normal i use defender automatic updates everything just like it was a bought version. i just restarted my computer again bc of your post and it has been on for 2 days straight yes timer was down before restart but after restart back to 43191. i have been having no problems with the 2099 trick. i did this same thing with windows xp when it first came out and i was waiting to have the money to buy a real version!!

i had the 2099 trick as well. it was working up to a point, when it started counting down for some reason (maybe cause i didnt turn off my laptop, only hibernated?). then i tried this crack, but after reboot just an error popped up that my licencing stuff has changed, and i have to enter da key. rc2 key no good. luckily i didn't erase rc2 (just installed rtm on a spare hdd), so i'm reverting to that for now...

you must have a special machine because it does not work for anyone else. i mean i wish it did but there is no way your clock can not be counting down like the rest of us. i followed the direction to a t on multiple machines and none of them have worked successfully. the clock ticks down after reboots, shutdowns, etc. the only thing i notice if after a reboot i gain a few minutes on the clock but not enough to take me back to 30 days. and i leave my machine on all the time, no hibernation or standby. i am using the bill gates edition with no patches and selected vista ultimate during install entering no cd key.

tried different activations cracks and work arounds. no go will not activate no matter what key i try. making an image of the drive have 8 days to activate, will try the activation delayer command that resets it apparently 2 more times for a total of sixty days, but it looks as though a completely neutered version put together by the savy programers and reinforced by manually applied updates will be the only way to go. it looks that all versions of vista and office and any update related to them will be stiffled with activation crap and will phone home and invalidate and keep your work and files trapped. it is corporate extortion, as someone above mentioned if you were not so greedy i would pay 40 dollars for a legite version, but 500 never will, never would want to. like sony firmware it is just a matter of time before some one releases an anti wpa crack that i will boot into safe mode and use and than this activation issue will be forgoten. building spyware into your os and charging ridiculous amounts, its no way to allure and treat customers but only feed the desire to hack it and use a copy with an altered boot screen just in spite.

all i see with vista is eye candy anyway. ill stick with xp as there is not much different between the 2 os. plus no activation required with vlk! same for longhorn. windows 2003 server is just as good.

i agree with you... i'm just waiting to install vista. i'm sure that serious hackin' group is at work. i'm not payin 300euros for 20gb of bloatware and eyecandies. for 300 bucks i could buy a modded xbox360 and close all windows on my pc. forever.

everytime i run the slmgr in the run command after i restart it goes back to 43191 where it was at when i furst installed vista over a week ago. also i dont know if this has anything to do with it but i am not installing the ultimate bc it has alot of things i dont use i use the home premium. ultimate throws an extra gb or so of junk files on your computer unledd you are in a business there is no use for it!

i wonder if its possible to install vista in vmware and compare exactly to see where its saving internal counter. like to compare(hexview) two vm installations of vista to find the counter. i wonder if microsoft encrypted this into a file?

i just installed vista on 2 more computers for family memeber of mine and i used ther rc1 key i had when rc1 came out. and mine goes til 8-31-07 too

i forgot the old saying...where there's a will, there's a way...well, i found the way after having the will.

but posting the solution here is not the answer. ms is lurking everywhere i'm sure and closing all the doors before they release it to the public. what we need is a better way of sharing this type of info so that ms doesn't learn our counter attacks.

it cheats (hooks user32.dll! getsystemmetrics(sm_cleanboot) & ntdll.dll!ntlockproductactivation)
winlogon.exe to make it believe it was booted in safemode and so winlogon skips
the wpa-check.
the patch is 'autorun' on eachs start before the wpa-check via
hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\antiwpa

the hooks are applied when antiwpa.dll!onlogon was load by winlogon.exe
winlogon.exe is not altered anymore. patching (api-hooking) is done in memory.
so there are no problems with the windows system file protection anymore.

once you use the online activation, your windows is determined genuine forever, same as using the phone activation hack with norton 2005, you can always update online and register in your name, and validate etc... because the phone activation did the trick, it made you input a code in windows that makes it determined as genuine for ever, i.e./ no expiration etc...

if you set it to 2079 then your vista will expire 29 days past year 2079, i recommend that you change the mother board so you can set it to 2099 and get an extra 20 years out of vista, or better yet do what taw7eed did and use the dr. hisham vista crack.

nancy you are funny, i used dr. hisham's crack it works fine, as for the people saying that it expires or doesn't work, they either skipped step 2 (which will ignore your changes to tokens.dat) or they just work for microsoft. that's my opinion.

i did not skip step 2.
i disconnected from internet

so during activation, i called and gave them the installation id, it confirmed,
then they gave me a confirmation id.

i tried that id 5 or 6 times, and checked to make sure i did not hear wrong or typed it wrong.

but as soon as i click next, i get an error telling me it's invalid.

and im also using a legit rc1 product key i got from microsoft (from registering).

now your system will not count down,

i installed vista first using the 2099 and it would not activate once i tried the crack. after a clean install the crack works but there still is a time bomb. you can see when the crack will expire by typing slmgr.vbs -dlv at the run command. mine will expire 8/29/07. i used the winbeta vista dvd and copied the crack files over. what is the difference with the patched msdn?

here is a new hack that i found.

1. unplug your internet.
2. set the bios date to oldest date possible.
3. clean install vista.(apply 2 file method)
4. disable internet time synchronization.
5. turn off your computer.
6. plug your internet back.
7. turn on your computer. (set real time)
8. run slmgr.vbs -dli to check activation it should say the windows expires in 1/1/1601.

this will work with vista beta 2 and above. it will not work on any oem computers such as dell, hp, etc.

i used dr chang method. however, the online activation gave me an error twice so i activated by phone and now it says i'm permenantly activated. i wonder if this would have work if i activated by phone with dr hisham. but there are some differences between the two that might have made it possible for you to activate or not. one thing that was not mention in the instruction was to write down the key because when you reboot it ask for the key. i tried to get into vista twice without the key and i couldn't. lucky, i can get the key online from my other computer. also, it is best to write down the phone activation code so if you need to install vista again you have the code.

n got 30 day trial...
but by chance i found bluelist keygen any windows key recover n discover..
the key which genrated should be verify by the tool called windows product key update tool.exe which will be find on ms site... thn enter the key in the tool which genrated from the bluelist key recover n discover for ne windows..
n get a patched n valid genuine key from microsoft.... i had tried n its works 100%...
but try two or three keys....

ok - let me take a quick recap on what happened.
installed vista ultimate , did the tokens/whatever the other file is trick. tried to activate with a few keys found online and failed, got a key from my friend from his rc2. it worked. autoupdate ran. now im getting constant "not genuine" nag screens, the bottom right of my screen is tatooed (it wasnt before this update) and aero is not working =\ how do i deal with this? ima try this new kms hack thing =) - ill keep you updated. any ideas?

- had vista cracked using the 2 file and rc1 key method.
- obtained 4 keys from ms when it will still possible
- did windows update and now my vista is no longer recongnised as genuine (30 days trial blah blah)
- reapplied the cracks as before.
- changed product keys i had using windows features or slui.exe upon reboot: no difference.
- did system restore to the point of windows update that messed it all up
- restore gave me aero back but then windows still shows 30 days trial
- rebooted : lost aero and 30 trial still there (obviously)
- result - crack cracked by ms: ie game over.

im not expert, neither will i claim to be. these are the facts of my night.

happy to hear out anyone who has ideas.
